  Decent, clean for a short stay

  First the positives: - staff were friendly and helpful - rooms are large, light and comfortable - bathrooms are good - odd numbered rooms on the 4th floor have sea views - pretty good breakfast But: If this was opened in 2016 it has a well worn look. It is supposed to be and I quote 100% non-smoking except for the men sitting in the foyer just outside the lift smoking like chimneys and sending the smell up the stairs and lift well - yuck!! The area outside the lift on level 4 seemed to be a storage area for cleaning equipment and a broken shower door and the dirty dishes from room service on the side table which were there when we arrived were still there when we left. This is a Muslim run Hotel so no alcohol available and nowhere nearby to buy it. For just one night it is a reasonable option but there are better.

  Quite a nice hotel especially for Djibouti

  Aside from a couple of gated resorts up the coast it is hard to find a decent hotel downtown. Atlantic fits the bill. Staff speak good French and English. The restaurant was great, which is important since I was unable to find any other OK place to eat in the neighborhood...there is a decent pastry shop across the street but don't eat anything there but the pastries. Rooms in the Atlantic are large and modern, wifi is good. They also have FREE airport shuttle so contact them ahead of time if you want a pick up or a return to airport. Service is very very good.

  Comfortable stay

  Let's start with the positive points for Hotel 1) Good room size 2) Staff is polite 3) Break fast is standard, but good considering the region. 4) View for sea is available from 4th floor rooms only with odd numbers. 5) Location is good considering short distance to a local market, beach and other restaurants. 6) Free Airport pickup and drop. Negative points 1) Cost is high as per the standards of the Hotel 2) No fitness center

  Outstanding Staff

  This is a central, quiet hotel with large rooms. Its an older hotel and there can occasionally be a few standard African maintenance issues, but what sets it apart are the brilliant staff. The front desk team of Mohamed Abdo, Mohamed Ahmed and Naguiba (recently from the Sheraton) are the engine that keeps this hotel humming. There is hot water; good air conditioning and reasonably fast WIFI. From organizing airport transfers (the driver will be there at your appointed flight arrival time even though its a 2-3 hour wait for the airport Covid testing); taxi transfers and even laundry while I was visiting Lake Abbe and Mogadishu (to be billed upon my return), they performed brilliantly. And always with a welcoming smile and greeting. Truly a class act. The breakfast buffet is very good when there are a sufficient number of guests. Other days, you can always get croissant, bread and pain au chocolat, cereal, yoghurt, and a made to order cooked breakfast. They also make fresh orange juice. The dinner and lunch menu is currently a bit restricted but they will make you something you like. Food is okay. Restaurant closes at 10 pm but there is 24 hour room service. If you have an early flight they will prepare fruits snd a drink for breakfast to go. I wouldnt consider staying anywhere else when next in Djibouti.

  Not happy!

  On the good side: Large room, AC worked, WiFI worked On the bad side: Bathroom left to be desired as cleanliness. Also, no hot water, just balmy; Stay away from restaurant! Food is badly cooked, expensive, takes forever. You have 100 m away, right at the next corner the restaurant La chaumiere...exelent food. Breakfast is possible but not very good...a lot of leftovers. Don't pay the whole stay at the beginning. I had to leave a day early and even if I gave them the notice in good time they didn't give me back the money for the last day...
