  We stayed for a week at Athena and had a lovely time. Theo & Maria are lovely as is Theos mum Joanna. We met a few other families who were returning for their 6th visit which speaks for itself! Our room was comfy with 4 single beds and a kitchen area. The kitchen was a little dated but we only used it for lunch so it was fine. The pool is lovely and the surrounding areas always kept exceptionally clean. Its a 10 minute walk to the beach/strip where you will find lots of restaurants/bars/supermarkets and gift shops. The beach is lovely and the sea very warm. Its around 5euros for two sun beds and a parasol (all day).. it can get busy but theres plenty of room. Star Beach is 10 Euros in a taxi or you can get the bus at the bottom of the road. Its a large resort open to the public with its own beach, water slides, inflatable rides and jet skis. We spent a morning there and it was good fun. Theo and family speak very good English and nothing is too much trouble. This is a little gem of a place and we hope to return at some point in the future.

  A very Angry old women

  On just returning from ten nights in stalis ,which should of been spent at the athena,but could not tolerate the atmosphere, rudeness,and aggressive attitude of the family running the apartments mainly the older women 70euro for air con for our ten night stay to find on the first night that the air con was completely useless and it would struggle to keep a car cool. When we approached her we were spoken to like children and were told the was nothing wrong with it in a very rude and aggressive way ,at one point she started shouting at my wife and storm out of our room throwing the keys at her which I only found out the day we left ther were a few other things which we never mentioned like abusive language swearing coming from the bar till early hours. When I approached the son he refused to speak to me about refunding the air con seems to me they are a greedy family who want as much as pos from there guests. We just got up after the third night of no sleep and booked in to another apartment to try and enjoy the rest of our holiday. I can only say the reviews I read about the apartments were fabricated by family and friends WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

  Family holiday

  Spent a week here. First impressions sweet family run hotel. Checked in smoothly. Extra charge for air con 49 euros per week which is needed in August. Used the pool bar a couple of times. Our children took a small bottle of coke from own fridge to drink round the pool as part frozen and they got told off. Can only drink pool bar drinks at 2.50 each!! And bottle of beer 3euros. Where we saw other guests drinking own drinks and nothing said to them. One older couple left towels out all week 24/7 on sunbeds and owner of hotel did not remove them. If you want a good nights sleep and you like very hard beds and very hard pillows and very noisy air con that rattled all night this is the place for you. Self catering rooms did not have a kettle or toaster just two ring hob one sauce pan and a frying pan. A table and two chairs in apartment for a family of four. The reason they said no kettle or toaster was due to sanitising! They do not change bedding or sheets whilst there for 1 week. Clean towels received on day 4, and only bathroom cleaned and bathroom bin emptied on day four! The pool I must say is lovely and warm and open till 8pm. We did not eat in the hotel apartment as only two chairs! And we did not eat at the hotel bar as many lovely restaurants only a 10 min walk down to the beach. A good place to stay for location and the pool. And somewhere to sleep only if you can as I said earlier. Beds were like concrete.

  Wedding

  Went for 2 weeks for a wedding and could not fault it the staff were so helpful there was always something going on at night and the beaches were excellent some great restaurants to eat in day and night

  Wonderful apartments

  Please ignore review about air con saga as I witnessed incident. The two guests were very drunk and not listening to instruction on how to use air con. Owner Joanna very upset ,they were abusive and asked to leave the apartments. We were a group of 8 staying in September, as it was my birthday Joana and dimitri let my family decorate bar and arranged a lovely cake at their own expense. My husband have stayed before at apartments but my sister and daughter have not and they were so impressed with the atmosphere, food and rooms. I cant say enough good things about athena apartments it truly is a lovely chilled very clean place where everyone just relaxes and has a good time. The food is excellent and cheaper than a lot of the restaurants. We had a wonderful two weeks and will go back again.
