    This is Japanese Ryokan

I started staying Taikanso ten years ago; I visit here perhaps once a year since then. Relaxing spa, exquisitely beautiful Japanese room, ocean view, kaiseki, and sushi: everything is perfect here. This is my wife's favorite, her mother's favorite and of course, my favorite place. If you are a devoted Japanese food fan, I recommend Hanafubuki where you can eat sushi with local ingredients so delicately prepared by the chef. He is a pleasant guy who always tries to make us relaxed and have a wonderful time. Table reservation strongly recommended. Do not forget a walk in the garden. It is beautiful.

    Wonderful Ryokan. Excellwnt service

Wonderful Ryokan where everything is made so you can just relax and relax. The staff is super helpful, many of them speak some English and even Spanish and will make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Attention is paid to every single detail so you don't worry about anything. Public and private open air onsen. Spacious rooms. Peaceful and beautiful garden. Kaiseki dinner with delicious food. On the top of it my wife is gluten intolerant and they have adapted the dinner and breakfast accordingly. Very special thanks to Saori for her availability, great sense of service and permanent smile: you have made our stay very special.

    Well worth the stay

Lovely breakfast and dinner. This ryokan is more friendly to non-Japanese speakers than most I have visited. It clearly has some history as with most other ryokans but this one is very well maintained and the interior of dining area, straw mats and walls of my room, the washroom of my room looked like new. Car pick up available at train station.

Top Quality Japanese Ryokan within 40 minutes from Tokyo

This is my favorite retreat for the weekend from Tokyo. Atami is only 40 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Taikanso is the authentic Japanese hot spring Ryokan, which was originally the country retreat of a Japanese steel tycoon. It is perched on the hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Izu islands. I particularly love the recently introduced suite room, consisted of a separate twin bed room, large Japanese tatami room, living space with comfortable sofa and cutting edge high-tech massage machine, as well as dedicated bathroom with wood bathtub and 100% pure hot spring water. The Japanese bathroom opens up to the wooden balcony with deck chairs. Everything is meticulously maintained and super clean. Bathroom has ample amenities. All rooms have wifi, which works nicely. Taikanso also has three different large public baths, where you can enjoy different atmosphere and scenery. If you have time, the large Japanese garden has flowers of seasons and a Japanese pond with beautiful carps, You can get free fish food from the front desk during the morning time. For dinner, you can enjoy very authentic Japanese course, Sushi course or Japanese top grade beef grill. As this is Japanese ryokan, you change into Japanese Kimono (Yukata) once you arrive and can move anywhere and enjoy dinner in Kimono (Yukata). So relaxing. If you want to relax more, you can arrange aroma massage as well as foot bath and steam bath. By prior arrangement Taikanso is running a shuttle bus from Atami station which is very handy. Hotel staffs are very well trained professionals and they tend to all your needs before you notice. All in all, this is the super weekend Japanese authentic retreat for relax, detox and recharge.
