  Disgusting!

  We checked into room 1 which has not been "updated". I don't mind old but it can be clean and this room was not. Toilet seat up and dirty, floors not vacuumed or mopped, table not wiped, and a thick layer of dust and dirt and dead insects behind the doors and beside the furniture. Mould on the net curtains by the bed and by this time I was too scared to even look in the shower. Sheets were changed but the mattress protector under them had huge yellow stains, long black hairs and blood stains. Kitchen was a bench, toaster oven and fridge with dirty cups and plates in the cupboard. We left and found somewhere else.

  Unexpected stay

  We found the motel due to being stranded after the flooding of the Rangitata. Closest place we could find from there in the middle of the madness was the Ascot. Stayed 2 nights unexpectedly while waiting for the roads to clear and then booked and paid for a 3rd night after reading that the road would remain closed, so we didn't want to miss out but we were running short of money so were a bit concerned. Even though it was last minute the motel was kind enough to refund me my money for the last night which we did not need as the road opened around lunch time that day. It was a lovely newer room, super clean throughout and we wouldn't want to be 'stranded' anywhere else. It was much nicer than we expected. And we loved the firm but comfy bed! Thanks again guys.

  Owner was helpful but that was it

  Its about time the booking companies and the motels themselves understood what wheelchair or accessible meant . Just as well I was only there one night. The toilet was low not a rail in sight no rails in the bathroom or the shower and the shower was up over a step if I had been confined to the wheel chair tough. As it was I chose not to shower. The doors were narrow no turning space and I walked in holding on to my daughter. The owner did make an effort to shift us once we arrived which enabled us a bed each and the beds were comfy . Unless there are other units this is NOT suitable for disabilities of the physical nature.

  Bloody Average. Charged a premium.

  This is the dearest price we have paid for motel accommodation in our three weeks in New Zealand. Our second last night and totally disappointed with the room here. Stuck around the back of the complex with other rooms looking down on you. Negotiating the giant pot holes to get to your car park is also interesting with only gravel and associated dust amongst shipping containers and sheep. Yes sheep. No towel rails on which to hang your towels. No compendium with welcoming notes and dining recommendations. TV screen is half hidden by a microwave oven stuck up high on one of the cupboards. Frankly will be pleased to leave tomorrow morning as we dont feel completely safe in the surrounding environment.

  horrible room 18

  booked in for two night for getting married after 1st night stay. room 18 ... air con blocked with dust i had to clean filters myself for it to work . blown light bulb in lounge. king bed has legs that have came off and dirty under bed . smoke alarm was in draw beside bed with battery was out of it. bed is old out dated and crap to sleep on. you can here people in other rooms beside you and cars going pass. microwave is dirty inside. dish draw knives n forks has dust in it. sliding door inside has dust n crap in its track . dirty marks on the fridge. above the cupboard that holds the dishes is coved in dust. marks all over the carpet. toilet loose from floor cobwebs on window in toilet. toilet roll holder falls apart grime around walls and edges in shower. it was a right hell hole payed for two nights stayed only one and walked out. couldent use wifi no pass word given and no one around to ask. had honeymoon back at home thanks to horrible room at ascots
