    Wow

Palatia village , what a gem of a find . Situated on a hillside with wonderful sea or mountain views. Set in beautiful wel kept grounds , full of olive pomegranate and lemon trees, amazing hibiscus everywhere. Me and my wife enjoyed a 10 night stay here. Family run by George and Maria, both wonderful people , and that's not forgetting susanna behind the bar who will happily bring you drinks and food by the pool all day long. Very clean well kept. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday with great food and a few cheeky cocktails (I recommend George's long island iced tea, indulged in too many they're sooo good ) then this is the place for you, . I will definitely go back. The picture below is sunrise from our balcony . Most apartments have sea or mountain views.

    Great value for money

I will keep this short and sweet. I recently stayed here with 2 friends. The lay out of the place was beautiful and had fantastic views and mountainous backdrop. They served lovely food at reasonable prices, unfortunately couldnt say the same about the drinks prices, saying that, the booze was expensive everywhere here it seemed. Short enough walk to both the new and old town hersonisoss. Most of the staff were excellent, with highlights being the owner captain, uncle George haha and the ladies working behind the pool bar. We zero issues with any staff here, they were all good. For what we paid for this place for the 3 of us was exceptional for what we got. I would definitely recommend this for anyone but especially couples and young families.

    Horrible hotel gorgeous area though.

Air conditioning = 5 per night not cheap at all and not mentioned on hotel booking that this had to be paid for One pillow that had no protector on it therefore ended up sleeping without a pillow when asking the cleaner if we could have another just told no Food was over priced and poor All drinks were overpriced wether alcoholic or not also unless you really like ants dont eat in the restaurant as it is inundated with them everywhere. Bathroom wasnt even big enough to turn around in, my partner physically couldnt move in the shower, the water pressure on the shower was so high it felt like someone scratching nails down your skin so couldnt use it directly on skin Self catering apartment had nowhere to prepare any food and only a tiny little oven grill and small fridge nowhere near to suffice self catering apartment Staff werent overly welcoming apart from George who we only spoke to once. When we checked in we were told that we had to request the room to be cleaned and this would only be done twice in our nine day stay only to then be awoken on two separate occasions to cleaners knocking us awake. Hotel information that is all provided on the tv in the room is incorrect, states room service is available but the phone always says in use and was never provided with any information on how to access this service, tv says check out is 12 only to be told whilst picking up our transfer details that wasnt until 17:30 that actually check out was 11 and we could leave our luggage there no information about this was given when we first checked in Safety deposit box that is mentioned on the advert is actually a small box big enough to fit a mobile in and nothing much bigger and we were told that would then be an extra 10 for the week and this being non refundable as other places weve stopped in this is usually a refundable deposit to be return once the key is returned and safe is undamaged. Room we stopped in had a balcony that lead directly over a small wall to the stairs leading to the apartments so this did not feel very secure to me or my partner. Not too far from the town and beach however look forward to a good hike on the way back as it is on the middle of a hill if your able hire a car or moped to get back and forth especially if you have children or people of low mobility as it becomes a hard task on the way back up The beaches are beautiful and the restaurants and bars in the town couldnt do enough for you if you asked them too a personal favourite of ours was Cavos the food the drinks and the staff couldnt be better if anywhere you should avoid the butchers bar which was really overpriced and very underwhelming when we ordered steak and two burgers arrived that the staff claimed to be steak. Something for everyone to do, if your looking for a cheap getaway then Crete probably isnt for you as the food and drinks are all rather pricy with an average meal for mains and two drinks each averaging around 25 per person If your looking for something new to do then Id definitely recommend Arion stables and Zara who is the owner a beautiful horse riding experience through a mountain trail with the most beautiful horses and even more amazing backdrop. If you like shopping you can certainly shop till you drop here but make sure you shop around for the best price we found the little back streets had the best prices and my only other thing to say would be to watch the lucky lucky people they are very persistent and will use children to tag you with glow stick bracelets and you will then be targeted by every lucky lucky person the whole time you walk and they will demand money from you. Beautiful beaches for snorkelling but if that something youd enjoy I would recommend buying some goggles and a snorkel and bring them with you as a set in shops will cost you around 30 to buy here yet if you shop around online you are more likely to find a cheaper set that you can bring with you. Speaking of beaches beware of a type of algae that grows on the rocks in the sea that will cause a severe sting irritation if you sit on them this is very common however as I learnt first hand this is very painful and could become very costly however I was lucky enough that the staff at the local bar had a cream for this and were able to advise me to head to the pharmacy and pick up another tube and 6 days later and some sun burn it had cleared up with minimal scarring. I have attached images below from our last day as we checked out so sorry about it being a little bit messy and not the greatest quality but the bags of rubbish was all built up after just two days and no one had shown us were to put the bins out.

    An absolute Gem in Crete

This family run hotel apartments has an excellent layout like a little upmarket Cretan village with a very pretty outlook surrounded by beautiful foliage. The whitewashed villas have just two floors, each an apartment. In September 2020, we stayed for 9 days in a premium apartment (no.14)with a good sized balcony and a wonderful panoramic view of the nearby harbour town, sea and mountains. The location was great, between the harbour town and inland old town of Hersonissos, either direction within walking distance although there is a slight gradient, but folk just walked, or had hire cars or used taxis (5-7 Euros). Theres a pretty edgeless pool and plenty of space for sun beds and also a well laid out bar and open restaurant area with delicious food. The service and pandemic safety (at the time) was second to none and the staff, especially Susanna, Hali and the family owners, George & Maria are probably some of the best hosts weve ever had on our holidays. Cheers! from Nigel & Diane, England.
