My house in IndiaMost recently, I first visited India. My acquaintance with this country, namely with the state of GOA, began with the hotel Astoria. I could not spend much time there (in the evenings and in the mornings), but I always knew that I was not in a hotel, but at home with my family. There is no good internet, there are ants in the room and there is not always hot water, but the people who work there will do everything and even more, so that your rest would be comfortable there. You can address them on any issue and you will never be told "NO". You will always be prompted where to go, where below the price and in what situations you need to be more careful. The hotel's territory resembles an oasis. In the center of which there is a stage where you will be shown very interesting and unforgettable performances by local and not only stars (absolutely free of charge). Staff: Aaron is not only a good conversationalist, but also a good chess player. Pascal is a quiet but friendly and courteous person. Giuslim is a kind, always cheerful, courteous conversationalist. If you suddenly get bored and Giullim appeared with you - you can rest assured, the situation with your mood will change for the better. I singled out only the people with whom I used to communicate most often, but that's not all. With Uncle Guslim we often raised deep and philosophical themes, we also talked very badly with Aaron's mother. In general, the people around us at the Astoria Hotel were struck by their education and rich inner world. Rooms: Everything suited me. I wrote above that the surrounding world (ants, mosquitoes, non-dangerous spiders, frogs and lizards) can come to visit you. If all this is alien to you, then, most likely, the state of GOA itself is unlikely to impress you on the good side. Maybe sometimes light is on (problems are not in the Hotel, but in principle in the electricity supply as I understood, since the light disappeared at least throughout the quarter), but it was not a problem the hotel has its own generator, which almost instantly was launched in such situations. Although I really enjoyed spending these couple of minutes in the street. It feels like you can hear the breath of the Jungle. Receptionist: Cozy place. Each my final day I saw off there. Conversations with both the staff and the same tourists made this day complete and no beach party was important for me. Here is a good kitchen (with a small extra charge). All that I tried here was very tasty. Some tourists even went to the port market and bought fresh seafood and the hotel staff was preparing it for a small amount. In any case, it turned out very profitable. Hotel location: The hotel is located near the town of Mapusa, but 6 km from the ocean. For us it was not a problem. Guslim gave us a scooter for a small amount, which I loved very much with my wife. We even gave him a name - Bobby, since he was always with us and nirazu did not fail us. Generally: To everyone who wants to discover a new world and see the GOA staff from the inside, I recommend this hotel. I'm glad that I was there!

A homely placeWhy does anyone go to Goa. The answer will decide whether u like this place or not. I have been coming to Goa last 2 decades. Astoria is one place i keep going back too. Yes, one major factor is that one of my closest pal is a resident of this village; apart from that Astoria's charm , its people, the setting, the greenery, the memories, the patio, the quietness, access to early morning mapusa market, almost all north goa beaches in 10km vicinity...and many more..Lack of airconditioning woes, mosquitoes, insects , i guess are part of any travellers preparation, so no big complaints on that side. Food has been good , i understand that their strength is not this one area but am confident that they could be good if the owner team set their mind to it. You want to write a book/ read one/ walk the village ....head to Astoria...and due to the lovely management team showering you individual attention, you will not be disappointed.

Assagao's 1st RestaurantThis is a very old restaurant here in the village of Assagao. During my college days I did visit here sometimes with my friends. This place during the weekend always had good music which was life and good food too. I need enjoy visiting this place every time as this was the only happening place here in Assagao. What is ensured that this place is always kept alive with music food and good service. This place offers Goan food, Chinese, Continental and Indian. The prices are not very expensive but at a reasonable level. The food quantity is not that great but still is ok. The food taste is always great as they offer Fresh Food straight from the kitchen.
