An Italian Chef cant cook Lasagne or Pizzas?Just got back from this hotel Room was fine and basic with a good safe which was free. Located a short walk to the gondola perfect location,Staff were polite no complaints Now the food,The week started ok but went downhill from then, breakfast was basic but very repetitive, scrambled eggs and chewy bacon + cheap sausage to replace the chewy bacon. The main course was the worst of all, cheap cheese with everything,Pizza served was thin ham or something burnt and cheap thin red sauce in Italy? got better from Lidl in uk, the lasagne was the worst 3 layers of pasta sheets with cream cheese and the 4th pasta sheet had i blob of meat i think, the whole meals were bland and no fresh ingredients or seasoning whatsoever i bought a chilli powder from the supermarket to add some sort of taste to the food which it did thank god, also ill 2 nights as well. The owners need to sit down and see if they would pay to eat their own food,i bet they wont...sorry wont be back.

Good location, but...To be honest, we did not pick this hotel ourselves. Location is good, close to the bubble lift. Staff is also very friendly and funny. Food was good, but not the best found in Italy, which has off course high standards. Breakfast is quite boring, the same each day, except for the filling of the croissant. There is fresh fruit! I think decoration of the room hasn't been changed for decades, but that has it's charme. Mattresses are awful however, very hard, we could feel the springs. We asked for another, and staff would take care of that, but it never happened. The rooms are also very noisy. If someone else sneezed, it sounded like it happened in our own room. We slept in the front and if we kept the window open (room was very hot at night) we heard all street noise. If we closed them sound insulation was actually pretty good, but then the room got to warm for sleeping. I'm a light sleeper, this hotel just didn't offer me the right comfort after a long day on the slopes.

Hotel Astoria ski holidayGreat location approx 150m to main cable car/telecabin lift, up to Plan Maison. That said initially when you arrive at the resort the coach drops you off approx 10 mins walk from the hotel, though your luggage is taken directly to the hotel for you, from the bus drop off point (in a smaller vehicle). Nice friendly hotel. Good choice of cereals, breads, cakes, yoghurt, cheese, ham etc, for breakfast (scrumptious scrambled egg...) 4 Course evening meals, help yourself to salad then waiter service with your choice of meal (chosen the previous evening). Food was delicious and portions just right for me. We had a room for 3 which was somewhat cramped, but cleaned daily. Limited space for evening drinks in the bar, though we always found a table. Good boot room with secure heated lockers for ski equipment. We enjoyed our stay at the Astoria, I'm sure you will too.

Exceeded expectations...Have just returned from a weeks stay here, booked as part of package with Inghams. First trip to Cervinia (first to Italy too), having always taken winter sports breaks in USA/Canada before. Chose this hotel and it was a good choice overall. Staff were efficient and friendly, hotel well looked after and spotlessly clean, rooms cleaned daily. Impressed by the ski room with cabinets unlocked by programming your ski pass, heated boot hooks and helmet storage etc. Stayed half board, and the food was good, lot of variety and competently cooked. As others have observed, short walk to the Plan Maison gondola and cable car, the quickest way to get up the mountain. Rooms a little dated, but comfortable nevertheless. Nice stroll into town where there is a good variety of bars and shops. As to the skiing, well that also exceeded expectations, despite some varied weather, with decent snow coverage and a wide choice of piste to choose from. Will be back!
