Restaurant review onlyThis place is consistantly great, food is excellent, great menu friendly staff, clean large dining room. $12 meals at lunch time with varied choices. Much better than being ripped of @ $15.90 for terrible food & rude staff.

Exactly what it says on the box, super friendly staff, great locationBooked in last minute when on the road, then had two friends join me when they also got sick of driving (gave the couple the double bed, even though I got there first, both beds comfy enough). Room was cheap and clean, everything worked and had all we needed for a good night's sleep. Staff were super friendly even though they were really busy when I checked in (check in at the bar/bottle shop), and accommodating when we added the extra two bodies (living, in case that wasnt clear). Just off the freeway so very convenient place to stop when you get that "I'm too tired to keep driving" vibe. Does have a little bit of "is this a horror movie prelude" look to it, but that just adds to the charm. Not all that noisy given proximity to a main intersection. The quintessential motel for an overnight stop during a long road trip.

Overnight stay, bar & restaurantThe rooms have been referbished and are basic but clean and comfortable. You can park your car at the door like old school motor inns which is really nice. The restaurant has great food and service is good. The restaurant and bar have a nice quiet unobtrusive atmosphere. The bar staff are some of the best that I have ever delt with on my travels. The lovely lady that booked us in to our room (Tahlia) was so nice and helpful that we felt like we wanted to stay longer. The bar manager (Rob) was great. Had a good knowledge of product and info of surrounding areas, you feel like a local friend just like an old time bar but in a modern atmosphere.area. Very helpful, efficient, polite, and great at making you feel welcomed. I highly recommend for dinner, a quiet drink or cheap clean accommodation.

Itll get better. The delightful Mid Century redesigned exterior and interior of the Astor is truly inviting. The staff are young and at this stage inexperienced, making up for it with youthful exuberance. The same applies to the food coming out from the kitchen. The Southern Fried Chicken could easily be renamed Southern Dried Chicken, which needed plenty of sauces to make it tasty and less dry. 12 nacho chips individually topped with tiny prawns and a slice of chorizo were disappointing as nachos for taste and expectations of a full plate of nachos. The squid, though tender needed spice to provide any taste. The desserts (meringue and sticky date) were the redeeming factor which were then followed by the worst coffee in likely Albury and maybe the state. Give it some more time and some more reviews and it will get better.

Great food and vibey venueHaving gone through a fantastic looking refurbishment, decided it was about time to visit. Walked into a very busy venue on Saturday 27 February. Very polite staff showed us a table and where to order. Not wanting anything large we opted for the lamb and mint cigars and crispy corn fritters. Both meals were excellent. Accompanied by an ice cold beer, what more does one want. This is going to become our local.
