If you are a woman travelling alone don't choose this hotelI am sorry but I can't recommend this hotel. I travelled to Beirut for working reasons and I chose this hotel because price and reviews were quite good. Consider that I am used to travel alone, I live in the Middle east since 6 years, and I am very easygoing. I can sleep in 5 stars hotel like in a tent in the middle of the desert, without any problem. What I really care about is kindness of the staff (feeling welcomed); clean rooms and good breakfast. I arrived in the evening, my male colleagues where already there. check in, quite basic and cold welcome ( surely not a 5 stars hotel one). I asked for the password for the WiFi and then went to my room. a kind guy carried my luggage but once we arrived to the room ( again, we are talking about an apparently 5 starts hotel) i discovered that the room was not clean. rubbish around and bed not done. the guy immediately apologised and called the direction to have another room. He apologised, the manager didn't, at all. The new room was a standard one ( let's say a 3 stars hotel room), safe was not working and on tv it was possible to watch almost only Arabic channels. ( i called my colleagues to be sure that i wasn't supposed to change the satellite, but even after doing that nope, almost only Arabic channels ( 5 starts hotel). breakfast time...mmm buffet (?) coffee Nescafe ( 5 stars hotel). cherry on the top of the cake, after a long working day me and my colleagues came back to the hotel, booked the taxi for the day after and we went straight to sleep ( we were exhausted). after 10 minutes the phone in my room rang. A man started to talk to me in a basic English, initially i thought was something related to the taxi driver, but after a minute he said i am in the room 231, can we be friends...?? come one!!! I was the only western women staying in the hotel and for that someone assumed I was a prostitute. nice people in this hotel, real gentlemen. I am sure that travelling with families would be different, but rarely i have felt less comfortable in one place as a woman travelling alone.

Sale of IvoryOn the ground floor of this hotel they host a store, "Demodie", that sells ivory. I will never stay here again, because of this. Unacceptable behavior. Not to mention that the A/C in my room did not work and the hummus here was the worst in Lebanon.

Cheapest airport optionClose to the airport, and for Lebanon cheap at £55 per night. The rooms were good, full facilities, and the internet worked well. My partner found the staff not so friendly, and not very helpful, otherwise all was good.

Great Hotel for priceStayed at Assaha Ghobiery Hotel. This hotel has 2 branches on the same road around 1km from each other. Fab location for wherever you need to go too as located on airport road. The rooms are decent sized and contain everything you could need. The hotel staff are friendly &helpful, nothing is too much for them to provide you with. The Main hotel also has a great Spa Facility that you can use but do check the days for Men or Woman as they differ. Overall would defo stay here again. Thanks Assaha Staff for your hospitality....

Step back in timeAt a time when there are protests all over Lebanon, I stayed close to the Airport at Hotel Assaha. We have been there before but only to eat and the food was delicious, and this time we had a room for the night. What a splendid stay it was, the rooms are very clean and comfortable and staffed by very helpful people, every corridor has a lot of history hanging around it.
