EspantosoCuando entre a la habitación tenia ganas de salir corriendo, parecia una habitación de una carcel. Hotel muy viejo, un solo ascensor y entraba una sola maleta, para subir o bajar habia que esperarlo veinte minutos. Pasillos angostos habitaciones chicas oscuras y sucias, cubrecama horrible, baño sucio y deprimente.

It's cheap for a reason, but it's clean and water is hot and plentifulStopped here to break up journey south. We had a triple and a double room. It's not glamorous at all, but what is there works. The shower was wonderful on first floor. Breakfast is simple but good. WARNING ABOUT CARS WITH TOP BOXES THOUGH - the max height in the car park is less than 2metres and you don't really know that until you are almost in it and to get out either means performing a tight 3 point turn or reversing back up a long narrow drive/path. Only alternative is to park in road and you are right in the centre so good luck with that. We got lucky...

Simple hotelThis is a simple hotel right across the street from the train station. I didn't detect any train noises. The room was quite basic with a toilet in one small room and a sink and shower in a small room on the other side of the bedroom. It's not an optimal business hotel. The wifi was sponsored by some ad agency and cut out frequently. Breakfast is basic. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, but English wasn't prevalent. This hotel would be best as a layover for a train stop.

More like a backpackersThis place is not quite what I had expected. My first impressions werent good. When arriving, there is an automated check in machine just outside. The problem for us was that it didn't recognise our booking. We didn't know how to get in, so just stood outside until reception came and got us. I think they must have seen us on a camera because we hadnt worked out how to contact anyone. The whole hotel is run down. It has an elevator, but we took the stairs. The carpet either needs a good clean or it needs replacing. It looks like the place has had a lick of paint to try and tidy some of it up, but it has clearly been done on the cheap. Our room was small but clean. There is a small open wardrobe with a few coat hangers, but you really need to live out of the suitcase. I hadnt noticed at first, but the bed is two singles joined together. I note the bed is comfortable and I had a good sleep. There is no air conditioning so we had to sleep with the window open on the first night. We were away from the street so didn't really hear anything. A couple of times I heard people in the hall, but once they were in their room I didnt here anything. The bathroom is small. We initially had one towel between both of us, so had to ask reception for a second one. The shower pressure is really good, but the drain blocked up in less than 30 seconds, so washing my hair was a nightmare. Had to keep turning the shower off and waiting for the water to drain away. If you use less pressure, then the shower lasts longer, but this is only useful if not washing long hair. I informed reception of the drain issue. I can tell by the response that it wont be sorted out. Also, there is no hairdryer. Not sure if there is meant to be one though. The lighting in the room is bad. There are two small reading lamps above the headboard and one lamp next to the kettle. We took one lightbulb out from the headboard because it made a really irritating clicking noise when it was off. To help light the room we ended up having to use the toilet and shower lights so we could see what we were doing. This may be normal as we have stayed in five other places in Europe recently, and none of them have a main light. It is all just small lamps. There is a buffet breakfast here but it wasnt included in the room price. It was an extra 10 per person for breakfast. We didn't get the breakfast as we just used the little supermarket down the road for food supplies. Note that there is no fridge. The location seemed ok. It is right across the road from the Gare Train Station. There is also a tram and bus stop there. It is also about 10 minutes walk to the town. Also, you would certainly never go hungry as there are many food places around. Turkish seems to be a theme for some reason. There is a small car park on site. It is 5 per day. We used the car park which was handy. It is only open between 6am and 10pm. I think this may be because reception have to let you in and out. Just to note, the car park is very small and tight to get into, so small cars are best. We stayed during the MotoGP, so we paid premium rates on this place. It wasnt worth the price that was charged. I would have tried somewhere else, but there were so few places and they cost a whole heap more. Another minor thing is that there are only French speaking channels on the tv. Sometimes it is nice to relax with a bit of tv before bed, but it wasn't so for us that only speak English. To me, the hotel is more like what I would expect from a backpackers, except you get a toilet and shower in your room.

Okay hotel except on race weekendsThe Ashley is an okay hotel if you are staying in Le Mans at any other time than when the weekend that the motogp is held and you are paying the normal price. The price was hiked massively for this weekend and therefore made it poor value for money. The room was basic but very clean but while we had a room at the back it was quite noisy at night from the outside bars. The WiFi was quite poor and one of the worst Ive experienced requiring continued and multiple log ins. The location is the big plus as it is opposite the station and right next to the tram lines that enable you to get around Le Mans with ease. At the normal rate this hotel is good value for money but not on a race weekend.
