Very EnjoyableAfter being shown to our room by Gary, we were treated to coffee and fresh scones in the dining room overlooking Gary's sheep and the surrounding hills. Such a warm and friendly welcome! The older style house still retains its character but all the room fittings were modern, the bed just so comfortable, the room was warm and the bathroom very modern. A full cooked breakfast was provided, along with plenty of plunger coffee. Would thoroughly recommend this bed and breakfast, ideally placed for touring Tasmania's south.

OutstandingI can't recommend Ashdowns of Dover enough, our stay was a true delight. We stayed 1 night before heading to the South Cape Walk and Gary's wonderful hospitality made our first night in Tassie so special. We enjoyed a fantastic 2 course dinner with veggies from the garden, spent some time exploring the property and feeding Topsy (one of the many sheep) and kicked back by the fire after dinner as the sun came down. In the morning, Gary served the best B&B breakfast experience I've ever had. He kindly also made us sandwiches ahead of our early start on the hike. 11/10 would return.,

The Best of the BestWe spent 2 nights at Ashdowns of Dover in January 2021. A good host is often rated as a super host, but this would not do justice to Gary , he is a superior super host. Great rooms, setting is spectacular, and the included breakfast is absolutely amazing. I am Gluten Free and Gary catered for my dietary needs with such care. We will be back soon.

Hidden GemThe lovely volunteers at the Greeveston Information Centre recommended Ashdowns on Dover and showed us the website. We were after quiet, warm and a comfortable bed. We spoke to Gary the owner who proudly claimed he could easily fulfil our needs. We only ended up staying one night and the place is beautiful. Gary has the perfect property with a fire pit out the back along with some chickens and sheep on the 5 acre block. Theres a fresh water stream flowing through the bottom of the property where a platypus lives but I didnt get to see him the night we stayed. Theres also a little shed thats been built right beside the stream which is fully decorated with two comfortable chairs and some books and a bathroom so you can completely escape and enjoy some quiet time to enjoy your surroundings and read a book. Its a very quiet place and beautifully decorated with his trinkets from past international adventures. The room has quality pillows and bedding with a real doona cover and not those three sheet wrap ups that come undone. Endless hot water and large comfortable bed. Gary is a whizz in the kitchen preparing a yummy hot and cold breakfast for us the following morning. We had dinner at the local RSL a 5 minute walk and they were all friendly there too. Well worth it and we would stay there again no questions asked. It was a lovely stay and we really we enjoyed our time there.
