    great hotel

I love this quiet hotel and staff are so friendly. they welcome you with nice piano and smiles in snow season. the room is not fashion, and request you re-use the towels to save the world. the hot spring are awesome and you cannot miss the outdoor one if it snows. remember to schedule your plan carefully because you need to take taxi or shuttle bus to get this hotel and snows could shutdown JR to Sapporo/Otaru. Enjoy the trip, don't be rush.

Very nice and reasonably priced hotel

You would need a car to get to this hotel. It is a huge complex located in Asari which is a suburb of Otaru. Very reasonably priced rooms, great breakfast, and very nice hot spring. The only downside is the gym-quite small and opens only at 10 am.

    Worth a visit.

The baths are very large and very comfortable. The lady side has three baths including a second outside bath that was very special. The men's side has only two. Piano music in the lobby with a player piano during the afternoon and live pianist in the early evening was very special touch. We stayed two days and two nights.

    Tired old Property

Looks time locked in the 50's. Looked like the set of a 1950s Hollywood movie. The furniture and fittings were really old. I thought the price very high. We stayed in a modern five star hotel in Shinjuku for the same price. Location is in the middle of nowhere. There may be skiing in winter but we were there in October. Going to town (Otaru) is abut 15 minutes by car. And you need to get on a highway and pay the toll. It appeared that many prople were there for the baths. Free for hotel guests. This, to me, was the only possible reason anyone would want to stay at this hotel. We were there because the couple we were travelling with were into Japanese hot spring baths and we didn't want to deprive them. We got off on the wrong footing stepping into our assigned room. It bore no resamblance to the photo on the web site. When we asked, we were told that the room we'd booked and paid for in advance was not available and they'd given us the next best - a free downgrade without notice! As the room wans't big enough to swing the proverbial cat, we were loud in our protest and were finally given an enourmous room with three beds and a sitting area. Despite the size, everything was pretty old. The wash basin was cracked and the toilet had an incrediblerefill for its cistern. See photo! In summary, expensive antiquated hotel whose saving grace is the hot bath

Sssh!! Dont tell everyone- This hotel is fantastic

My husband and I stayed here for 11 nights on a recent ski trip to Japan. We loved staying here. The onsen was beautiful and used by hotel guests and locals. The breakfast buffet was extensive and featured Japanese dishes. There was some fruit and yoghurt and cereal if you need it. The room was clean and serviced every day and we had a great view of the ski resort opposite. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel offering very economical and tasty meals. There is also a bus stop right outside that will take you into otaru where there are loads of interesting restaurants. The staff at the hotel were all friendly and helpful. We will be staying here again.
