OMG STAY WELL AWAY FROM HERE

My usual hotel was fully booked so went on the internet and found this place local to my office that I visit weekly. Arrived to be greeted at reception by a guy who looked like he could do with a makeover. I paid for my room £80 and then went across the road to where the rooms are. As in the photos the main door was not in great shape. The lobby door was not much better. The carpet in the hallway was dirty. Get to my room and the main door handle was not secure as in the video. Windows were filthy. Kettle was filthy. Bathroom floor around the bin full of cobwebs. Cracks in the walls. And as for the spare toilet roll see for your self. Pure filth.

    CARVERY

We come regularly for their Sunday carvery and today's visit was as excellent as ever. I think Arties Mill has a seriously underrated and relatively unknown restaurant, particularly the carvery, which, from a quality of food perspective, is streets ahead of newer pubs offering carveries and thoroughly deserves a great review! ROASTS: The turkey was beautifully succulent, the pork exceptionally tasty, however, the beef is by far the very best joint I have tasted from any carvery anywhere I have experienced in the country; it pulls apart on the plate and melts in the mouth - it is simply the very best!! VEGETABLES ETC: Like the beef, the roasties, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings are the very best on offer anywhere and the remaining selection of carvery accompaniments are cooked to perfection. All smothered in the most deliciously rich gravy!! STAFF: Chef really friendly and helpful as were all the bar staff and waitresses PRICE: £7.95 for really generous portion of meats and all-you-can-eat stuffing, veg and Yorkshire puds... VERDICT: Incredible value for the very best quality carvery you will experience!!

Lovely helpful staff but desperate for a clean and a makeover.

January 2020, Brexit Eve. 3 of us stayed in 3 separate double rooms whilst on a work project. Just the one night. All the staff were great, really helpful, polite and went out of their way to oblige. Rooms were a good size and despite being quite close to the M180, had little or no traffic noise. Good size, in fact spacious, en-suites, and all lovely and warm. Clean sheets, comfy mattress. Challenges: Ran the shower for about 10 minutes but still icy cold. Rang reception ( from my mobile ) to get instructions. Run the bath tap at full blast to bring the hot water through, then switch to shower. That worked but the now hot water came out like a slight leak in your garden hose! Hotel in Brigg but boiler in Scunthorpe?? Shower control sticky, dirty, mouldy. Most things you need to touch were sticky. The carpets needed ripping out and burning immediately. Decor reasonable but everything very tired. The strong odour in the entrance hall to the bedrooms block was a clue. Dog pooh all along the pathway from the main building to the bedrooms block, with kitchen staff treading in it and walking it into the kitchen! With a lot of cleaning, a lick of paint and ALL new carpets, its got the basis of making a nice place to stay. Great choices on the menu for dinner and mostly home made by the talented chef. Great beer. Really pleasant staff. The home made Steak and Guinness pie and home made chips were excellent! A good range of deserts at very reasonable prices. Easy access, easy to find and great parking facilities if you have a large van or are towing a trailer. Summary: The outdoor working lads will cope with it but not a place to take your ladies, and at £50 a night per person, mmm, you would expect, and can get, much better. Sorry Arties Mill but you really need to think about changing your cleaning contractors and getting the carpet fitters in.

    AMAZING SUNDAY LUNCH!

Come on this has to be the most underrated carverys/sunday lunch eateries in the area! The staff are amazingly friendly and the food . ...we loved it before lockdown and will definitely visit again on a regular basis ...ongoing! Great meal thank you. OK the place could do with updating but well worth the price paid.

Dont stay here- not COVID compliant

We stayed at Arties Mill recently whilst visiting family who had been shielding due to lockdown. On check in we were disappointed by general state of property, no hand sanitisers anywhere even though on the booking site this was mentioned as standard and property regularly disinfected. Room we stayed in was dirty, smelly, carpets stained, work services dusty. Again no sanitiser in room. We went back to desk and no one there so went to family to see if anywhere else in area was free, but all booked. Had no choice but to stay at hotel or sleep in car. On returning it got worse. No hot water at all- had to boil kettle to wash. So no shower available. No toilet roll- had to go to Tesco to buy. Noise in place horrendous we were near main doors and people congregated in groups, stood in bed clothes smoking. This went on through out night. Some dodgy looking people were looking in our car windows at one point- we moved our car in end. Guy next door who was drunk at checkin was up all night in and out of his room banging his door. His Music and tv came on at 4am!! There were posters on his door saying police aware of large groups congregating at the lodge and not COVID compliant. Overall my wife didnt get much sleep at all and slept in her clothes as refused to get into the bed as sheets smelled. Kept checking on our car and left at 7am next day. We learned after staying here that the hotel has become run down and majority of people staying there are council rent funded, as would be homeless otherwise. This is not advertised as a homeless hostel. And even if it was basic hygiene standards should be there. We are in middle of a pandemic and hotels have a responsibility to keep people safe. This place could put people at risk with bad practice. Councils should inspect this place immediately and bring it up to speed or close it.
