An exceptional hotelThe hotel is located directly below the castle surrounded by other medieval half-timbered houses and the mill opposite in the very beautiful part of Aulendorf near the city park. The design of the hotel is exceptional and really very well succeeded, it gives the guest a medieval feeling, but offers the comfort of a modern hotel. Also in the restaurant and at the breakfast buffet the atmosphere is very pleasant.

You CAN have it all: Elegance and Medieval theme of your choiceFirst and foremost, I do not partake in Live Action Role Play (LARP). Upon booking the hotel, I was nervous about the medieval theme, but looked forward to the 4-course candlelight dinner. We spent time at the Bodensee and stayed at Hotel Arthur before returning home. I am glad we decided to stay at this hotel. Newly renovated, we walked into the hotel and fresh herbs and citrus aroma was lightly in the air emitting a clean, fresh scent. We proceeded to check in and the service at the front desk was kind, inviting, and personable. The medieval theme was present, but with an air of elegance and no LARPers in sight. The room was tastefully done with a medieval theme and classic designs. The room was impeccably clean (as was the bathtub) and the turn down service included Toblerone and a fresh bottle of water. There were many nice toiletries including bath salts. We requested robes and slippers at the front desk, which were provided with a smile. We went for our four course meal and the hostess kindly informed us the chefs in training had the kitchen for the evening. The dinner was served in a separate room next to the lobby (which was described as the lobby), which was nicely decorated with apothecary cabinets and nice tables. So, don't be taken aback when they describe it that way... it was actually one of the nicest dining rooms in the hotel. The meal was good, but the server kept forgetting our order and when she brought something it was wrong. It could have been the stress of managing the trainees, but I did notice other guests had the same problem. The creme brule was more of a unflavoured custard and I noticed a lack of vanilla flavour, despite the five specks of black on the bottom of the dish. This was a change request as the menu included a desert called Nun farts. Drinks were not included in the dinner, but were had for a fair price. The bed was comfortable and the room was quite cozy, though we had the heat off (this might be because of in floor heating), and quiet despite being next to the parking lot. I didn't expect much for the included breakfast, but was happily surprised to see a beautiful spread of yogurts, vegan friendly items, freshly made eggs and bacon, fresh juices, and an upscale coffee machine for made to order coffee. This hotel is an excellent choice for families and couples! Thanks for the wonderful experience.

Do not stay in the rooms 101-103Dear all, The room no.101, it should not be rented to the hotel guests but used as kitchen storage (rooms 101-103). It shares elevator with kitchen staff, dirty dishes, kitchen or laundry trolleys you may find in the corridore or in the elevator. No elevator to the reception floor. Room is with insects under and on the bed, big insects even bite. Empty soap dispenser next to washing basin (in shower box was not empty). No receptionist exept from 8-11 in the morning as waiters says. While leaving I answered everithing was ok except the room, getting comment have a nice day. Kind regards, Sascha

NOT FOR COUPLES!!We booked a room for our first wedding anniversary. The hotel advertises multiple romantic options which seemed like a nice idea. One of these was a candle lit dinner. We thought this to be a nice option to celebrate this special occasion and were happy to pay for the experience. What we expected and what we received were two very different things. Our table (one of three candle lit experiences) was placed awkwardly in the centre of the restaurant, surrounded by an ongoing screaming shamble of children and families. Were a young couple and pretty tolerant of excessive noise but this was out of control. I know the restaurant is not liable for the behaviour of its guests but dont advertise a romantic experience if what you deliver is equal to being in a kindergarten classroom. We very politely explained our situation to the host, told them it was a special occasion, in which our only option was to come back later in the evening. While the hotel attempts to deliver an experience for a romantic getaway I would not recommend this place at all for couples. Its more along the lines of what you would expect from a family friendly campsite. Again, I dont expect the hotel to control its guests - just dont advertise an experience if you cant deliver it. The rooms are very nice. I cannot fault them on that!

Beautiful hotel in little village in medieval styleWe stayed here while spending two days at Lake Constance. Distance from there is okay (around 45 minutes drive) and located central within a small village. Staff is very nice and helpful. Rooms are modern and clean in a medieval environment and theme. The whole building dates from the medieval ages but is recently renovated. Hotel can be explored with many different and entertaining parts. Offers space for relaxing.
