  On the main street

  We had a two night stay to visit Bokrijk park which is 4 miles from Genk. The room is amazingly basic but very clean and the price is reasonable for a city centre location with plenty of restaurants and shops. The room had tea and coffee provided and the tv had 2 BBC channels. The lift was something they must have got from the local mining museum but it worked. Parking is a MAJOR problem and we eventually found a space 1/2 mile away and it took us an hour to find it.

  Good for the price

  I booked this hotel less than a week before my travel, most of the hotels were fully booked and this was the cheapest, nevertheless the price, it was clean, cosy, and the staff are friendly and helpful, my room was cleaned everyday and they take extra mile to be at your service.

  Not a 2-star, more like a European 4-star

  Small room, but clean and nice. Great water pressure in the shower, although on the second day only temperature available was hot, more hot and scalding. Hotel prob gets a ding for not having a receptionist - I was greeted with a note on the door saying we close at 10pm but call this number to find us. And on checkout there was no receptionist. By EU standards, definitely not a 2-star. Even by American standards, this was better than most 3-stars. Just a tiny room.

  Great price, great location, great staff!

  My husband and I came to Genk for a friends wedding. Quick note: Hotel Artel may be soon be referred to as Green Hotel.The hotel staff accommodated a late check in without any hassle. We felt welcome from the minute we stepped into the reception area. Clean rooms (very efficient design and use of space), free wifi, closet space, mini fridge, tv, mini kettle - everything we really needed for our short stay. The hotel location is perfect, right in the city center - steps away from the train station, grocery store, shopping mall(!!!), a beautiful park and some local bakeries/ restaurants/ bars. The manager of the hotel, Kwinten, went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was comfortable; he promptly replied to all our requests/ needs. It was very clear that he loves what he does and his beautiful city. Thank you for all your kindness and accommodation!!! We are looking forward coming back and experiencing the new Roots Bar!!!

  Excellent value for money - great location!

  Note: this hotel is now called the "Green Hotel". I stayed here for a week whilst visiting Genk on business. It's located a short walk from the train station, and an even shorter walk from Genk's main square. The room was a bit on the small side (but then again, that's to be expected from a single room). The WiFi was a bit slow, but everything else was great. The room was cleaned every day, and the breakfast did the job (although, next time, I will go to the bakery next door instead). A word of warning: the rooms aren't equipped with air conditioning and can get rather stuffy at night time - even when it's not too hot outside. A good hotel for the price.
