    Basic hotel

I stayed at Nirvana Hotel for 2 nights during the weekend. We just chose this on the spot, and the price was 70 E for a twin. It's a small hotel, meeting the basic requirements but nothing more..It has few parking places in the innercourt, so it's good if you travel by car. They also have wifi, quite good connection, free of charge in the rooms. Apart of this, room is on a medium size and so is the bathroom, but nothing to impress, just basic decoration etc. There were few powercuts, but they have a generator that starts automatically. Breakfast was included as well in the price, you can order scrambled eggs or choose the one type ham or cheese they offer, a coffee and a glass of juice.... Location is quite ok, 5 min walk to Skenderbeu Square, 10 min to Blloku..

    Great Paintings

I'm giving it 4 stars for the great paintings that line every inch of wall. It does everything else ok - room is fine; bathroom good; breakfast ok; reception friendly; laundry included; wifi in room is strong. But all these it would expect from a hotel where i am paying 65 euros a night for a double (you have to negotiate!). What makes the hotel special, and perhaps worth the extra 10-15 euros are the paintings that makes it feel like you are staying in an art gallery.

    Cold hotel

We arrived hotel Nirvana a cold January day. And it was almost as cold inside the hotel as outside. May be due to heavy smoking from the previous guests, we arrived to a freezy hotel room with a open window. When we closed the window, we discovered an odour from old sigaret smoke. The air condition worked overtime set to 30 degrees and and after 24 hour, we finally got a normal temperature in our room. But since nobody seemed to respect the "No smoking" sign on the front door of the hotel, the reception, hall and bar are filled with tobacco smoke at all time. Other guests have reported a "not so delicious" breakfast. This was true. You survive, but that is all. The hotel have decorated all the walls with paintings. This made the visit interesting. But we would rather have a warm hotel room. The city of Tirana have developed to be an exciting city, worth visiting, specially now, when the city is in between the old communist time and a modern capital.

One of the worst hotels ever

Two pluses - the location (near the office) and the lovely staff. Otherwise, my experience was utterly dismal. Very old-fashioned, no lift, badly needs updating and decorating (the red, orange, terracotta and pink scheme is horrendous and the bad paintings which adorn every inch of wall space induce nightmares), missing several light bulbs, rooms dingily lit, no bed sheets to fit the bed, bed not changed once in six days, toilet seat and handle broken, towels like cardboard, a bathroom ceiling that was black with mould (when I complained I was told it was just a little 'humidity'!), two inches of water on the floor when it rains, noisy (largely because of all the stairs), no restaurant, no proper desk with light for working, a 1970s TV with one TV station in local language - need I go on?

    Art Hotel

I know the previous reviews seem not as good, but we had a different experience. We thought the hotel was clean, the room was surprisingly big and bathroom was too. There were ashtrays in our room but I did not notice a cigarette smell at all. The views outside are nothing to look at but due to it being hot outside its best to keep the curtains closed anyway. The paintings all over were really cool and interesting to look at. Our room on the 1st floor was quiet and no street noise. The air conditioner was necessary and reasonably quiet. The breakfast was did not have a great selection, but everything we needed. Yogurt, coffee, croissant, ham and cheese and juice. They also had some hard boiled eggs. We felt it was a very reasonable value for 45 Euros (Aug 31). The staff was helpful and nice. So we found it to be a very good value with all of central Tirana walkable.
