  An amazing gem!

  Alrighty then-We regularly come to Åre with a disabled ski group and traditionally stayed at the Continental. This year due to their change of circumstances, we looked at the Holiday Club (central) and this place.... All I can say is I wish we'd found this place earlier. Our hosts Solvig and Urban ( a husband and wife team) were fantastic throughout-warm and welcoming whether this was at 3am ( on arrival) or last thing at night. Rooms were clean, tidy and for those that needed it, there was also ample wheelchair access ( but if you need a bath chair, phone ahead). Room decor was really good and beds were made every morning for us. We chose the half board option- Swedish style breakfast that was all you could eat, and 2 courses for dinner. For was ( again), traditional Swedish but the do cater for dietary requirements ( again, if in doubt phone ahead!).Alcoholic beverages are somewhat limited but if you ask, they can usually get it & at much cheaper prices than town! Transport links are pretty close too with the town ski bus pickup about 100 metres away, and coach stop/ train station a 5-10 minute walk. We were so impressed with this place that we've booked again for next year ( 16 of us!!!). Try it!

  Good food, nice rooms!

  We needed a place to spend the night to travel back to Ostersund by public transport from Valadalen (where we ended our hiking trip of 10 days). Via internet we found this place, which was closeby the trainstation. We arrived late in the afternoon, but were welcomed warmly and were given a beautifull room with 2 sofas, a big bathroom and a hallway. There was a great view towards the mountains. We asked wether would could have dinner, which was not a problem. It was delicious 3 courses and some glasses of wine to go with it. Again, very friendly staff. The hotel was quite full with other guests, but this was not a problem, we did not hear any noise from the guests on the hallway in our room. Breakfast was again delicious, with fresh bread, knackebrod and cereals. And of course a good coffee to go with it! Can recommend this place, but you need a car to be able to make most of the surroundings.

  Rather a let-down

  This "gem" must have gone down quite a lot since the glowing reviews were written. Or else we were very unlucky with our room. Perhaps the problem is asking for twin beds. For us it was a stop-over between Trondheim and Stockholm. We found it nice in terms of faded elegance, otherwise poorly neglected and sadly in need of tlc. Renovations were under way on the living room. It all seemed rather drab and disorganized. Our welcome was vague, with little help or enthusiasm, and the wifi password not offered. Worst of all was the room: small and drab, with curtains on a wire, and the beds very narrow but comfy. The bathroom is pokey, with a tony shower and old slimed shower curtain. It felt and looked old and dirty. There was no heating anywhere. Breakfast was okay, But late. Only ready at 07:40! I was annoyed as we had risen early to make an early start back to Stockholm. I would not recommend this place and felt cheated by the pricing. We paid SEK 1,194.50 for the one night, including breakfast, booked through Hotels.com, but see it advertised today on TripAdvisor for SEK 869! Why the price difference?! Redeeming feature is the dining room. But no dinner was available due to a "change Oh my word! chefs" ( if we understood the receptionists Swedish correctly) and had to go back 13 on into town for dinner. Not impressed.

  We recently stayed here during January for a few days and loved this hotel. The owners couldn't be more helpful! We arrived late and they showed us to our room which had beautiful views and brilliant facilities. We couldn't get food so the owner offered to physically pick us up some food and dropped it off for us, they also provided us with a microwave when we asked for food reheating. They gave us endless Information on the local area, buses and trains and as a whole nothing was ever too much to ask. Breakfast is delicious and the staff are all lovely. We will deffinetly be coming back again and we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in this area! 10/10

  Fantastic Service, Great rooms and close to nature

  I visited Fjallsatra in December 2018 over the Christmas period with my family. We had a fantastic time and the staff were great. The breakfast, lunch and dinners were all really good quality food and the Christmas buffet was one of the best I've experienced.Being situated slightly outside Are was very nice as it is very chaotic in Are during this time of year. It was easy enough to get in to Are when you wanted to. The nearby nature is beautiful and there are plenty of things to see and do in the area.
