DO NOT STAY!!I booked this hotel for 3 nights recently and thought it was a good choice based on their rating on TripAdvisor but I was mistaken. Prior to booking online I rang the hotel to see if they offered room service for breakfast as we preferred to have breakfast in our room with a 3 year old child as sometimes it can be difficult to feed him, was told they do for a 6 tray charge which was fine. When I got to the hotel I asked was there a breakfast menu for the room to which the receptionist said they don't offer room service anymore due to covid which is frustrating as it's listed on their website as available. The heating wasn't on for the duration of our stay the rooms are freezing at night i asked them numerous times to sort out the heating but just got a little portable fan heater brought to the room instead. No cold water in the sink or bath/shower informed reception they said they would get someone to look into it but had to remind them again next morning and same reply then was switched to another room day before check out that had cold water and guess what no cold water on morning of checkout how ridiculous is that. Room wasn't cleaned for duration of stay when I questioned this I was told it was due to covid if you're booked in for more than 1 night u have to ask for your room to be cleaned. I went into the bar one night after 10 for a drink before bed, to be told in a very rude way by the barman with name badge TP, no your not getting a drink the kitchen closes at 9:30 and you have to order food to get a drink which is understandable, when I informed him that I was a guest at the hotel he said "I dont care you can like it or lump it they're the rules". Why be so rude and ignorant about it, he said they were finishing up serving anyway but at half 11 he was still pouring pints for 4 of his mates who were sitting at a table and who had been there since before 8 p.m according to a few friends who I had happen to see in the hotel bar also. Informed the manager Jean about this and she said they make exceptions if people are social distancing and that she would have a word with the barman, 4 men around a small circle table basically sitting beside each other is not social distancing. I will never stay here again I've stayed in B&Bs that are better than this place, the rooms haven't saw a paintbrush since opening, a very small TV and are really due an update. It seemed to me that we were an inconvenience for them and they didn't really care about us, this place puts the locals and their friends from the town first before their guests. I would advise people to book somewhere else if you want an enjoyable stay and be treated with respect.

Would return againI stayed here at the start of the year as was attending a funeral. The bedroom had everything we needed and we had no issues with noise or getting a good nights sleep. We were happy with both breakfast and lunch also. Only callouts were that we arrived about 9pm and were told that there was no food available and when I checked in the bar they didn't have packets of crisps or chocolate. Not to worry there is a petrol station a 30 second drive up the road, but just something to be aware of.

Lovely Family friendly hotelThis family hotel holds no faults. The staff were so friendly couldnt do enough for us. The food was so tasty and piping hot. Breakfast is made to order and its clear they only buy the best produce. The roast beef would melt in your mouth. The lemon meringue so light. Rooms were lovely and spacious and you could control the heat yourself (radiators). Lovely lobby with open fire was so cozy and lovely to relax at. Place was spotless. Loads of sanitiser stations around the hotel. Well done to the staff and management. Gets my thumbs up

Warm and welcomingAfter finishing up for Christmas me and my colleges from @lovelightireland decided to pay a visit to the Ard Ri House Hotel for lunch, this was something we had not done for a long time due to COVID restrictions. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely friendly lady who brought us over to the table and explained that the Carvery was just about to start, the Carvery was lovely and fresh with generous portions and was great value for money, overall the staff were friendly and the place was spotless, the Hotel was busy enough on the day but you never felt threatened in any way as the tables were well separated and everyone was COVID compliant, after the meal we had a couple of relaxing drinks before heading home. I would have no hesitation in visiting the Ard Ri again in the future and would recommend it to anyone.
