Modern comfortable roomThis hotel was booked for me by the organizers of an event I attended in Gaborone last year. Didnt know anything about it and I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Service in the restaurant is a bit slow but the portions are generous and quite tasty. When I had the chance to visit Gaborone again, I did not hesitate to return to Aquarian Tide. Its convenient close to the airport and to shops. The shuttle service is efficient and the drivers very friendly!

Aquarian TideThe rooms are neat and tidy and cater for catching up on emails etc. The shower/toilet area is a bit small but clean. A bar fridge is standard in the room (not stocked) and you will find 2 bottles of water. At the time of my vist the lift was not operational. Also in the morning when I wanted to shower I was surprised to see that there were only a footmat without towels. When I phoned to enquire they brought me 1 face towel and a foot towel only..!! Needless to say from the following day I had enough towels.........not too sure why only then.

Best AvoidedI stay here several times a year for business- the hotel is the company's choice, definitely not mine. Positives: Front desk staff are very friendly and remember repeat customers. Great proximity to the airport and shopping mall. Everything else: The airport shuttle has never been on time to collect me. On my most recent visit, the hotel shuttle was not at the airport when I arrived. The driver from a competing hotel saw me searching for my driver, asked where I was staying, and straight away phoned Aquarian Tide on my behalf (now that's good customer service initiative!). When the shuttle/driver eventually did arrive, she greeted me, then proceeded further into the terminal to greet all of the other shuttle drivers while I went to the shuttle, unaccompanied, and carrying all of my luggage. When she eventually caught up, she asked if I had been waiting long (yes, 25 minutes) and claimed my "flight must have arrived early", when I know it had arrived 15 minutes late. The driver was on the phone most of the way to the hotel and had several near misses with other traffic. Other excuses I've had from the shuttle drivers in the past were "your company never requested the shuttle when they booked" (I made the booking myself) and "traffic" (which magically clears up by the time we are heading back). The check-in staff are always very friendly and greet me by name. But check-in is a slow process. The only thing that happens quickly at this hotel is the excuses. Rooms are adequately equipped but poorly maintained. Showers that don't drain, writing desks collapsing, stained furniture, tv signal so poor that the picture is blurry or distorted. The rooms have modern air-conditioning units in each room, but the light from the unit when it is running lights up th whole room which I find makes it difficult to sleep. The target market of the hotel seems to be conference attendees who are there for a good time at their company's expense. I realise that it's not necessarily the hotel's fault, but at all hours of day and night the hotel guests have loud conversations in the corridors- not good if you are there on business and want to rest. Housekeeping staff do the same. The housekeeping staff have seemingly little regard for security. While I was out during the day, my ground floor room was cleaned and the window left wide open! Breakfast is adequate if you don't mind highly processed or fried food, dreadful coffee and sharing a table with a stranger because the breakfast room is too small for the hotel size. Rather spend your money at a restaurant nearby. On my most recent planned stay, I had checked out in the morning, but my flight was cancelled, so I was rebooked and returned to the hotel to check in again at 5pm. I was unable to check in because "there is no linen in the hotel". It had all been sent out for cleaning and not yet returned. Keep in mind that this hotel allows check-in from 2pm. The only suggestion was that I sit and wait (along with the other guests). There was no estimate given for when rooms would be available. Based on my calculations, if the linen was not even in the building yet, the housekeeping team would still have to make up all the of the rooms for the waiting guests when it did arrive, and it could take hours for a room to become available. I asked for my booking to cancelled and walked across the road to Town Lodge instead where I had a very pleasant stay.

Value for your moneyIt was a lovely experience with a spacious room that occupied a huge bed and clean toilet. The room service was also up to standards. The reception staff were very friendly( have met really rude and arrogant staff before) and the parking was just next to the hotel.
