Great basic place to stay!We spent a week here last week, which was half term (UK). The room was basic, quite small but perfect for what we needed really. It was always warm and clean. We had a twin room, although there were single beds in it. They were a bit hard for me (my partner loved them) but I slept well. The room was lovely and dark at night. There was a mini kitchenette with hob, fridge and sink. We didnt use it, so cant really comment. There really isnt much room between the bed and the cupboard though! The bathroom was a wet room, meaning the toilet often got wet after a shower but we had enough towels to wipe it down afterwards and it dried fairly quickly. Overall it was really quiet, no one made lots of noise and we slept well. We were pretty impressed with the food. The pastries/croissants in the morning were wonderful! Evening meal was always great...2 hot choices, amazing soup and a lovely salad bar. Desserts were delicious. The chef (Fra, I think?) is lovely, shes so friendly, speaks great English and her food is wonderful. The staff are all lovely really. If you are vegetarian you might struggle a bit? The 2 main hot meals were usually meat and fish, but occasionally there was a veggie option. It was fine for us as both of us eat meat and as I say, the food was amazing, great portions. We loved that you could take wine/drinks back to your room and they lent us glasses too! Pretty good location too, only a short walk to the bottom of one of the lifts. Would stay again...

Ski holiday with friendsWe stayed here with another couple and booked through Inghams. Firstly, the good points. It's about a 200 metre level walk to the nearest ski lifts where there is great skiing in this snow sure resort. But it's not ski in/out as advertised by Inghams. The bedrooms were cleaned daily and had comfortable beds with a balcony and a mountain view. There was always plenty of hot water even at peak times. There was a small kitchenette and a fridge in the bedroom which was handy for making light refreshments. Downstairs is a cosy restaurant with helpful staff and a small but cosy bar with a TV and pool table. The restaurant served sufficient food with buffet service of soup, salad, mains, cheese and dessert although sometimes some lines ran out early. Some of the main courses were unexciting but we never left the restaurant hungry as there were plenty of other courses. The hotel is in a quiet location away from the main road and close to the Sherpa supermarket. There's also a swimming pool. The free wifi was very good in our bedrooms. All floors were served by a lift. For skis and boot hire we would definitely recommend Go Sport Montagne YAB Sports a few doors down the main road. Great service and great skis. And now for the not so good points. The check in process was chaotic and took an hour spent in a queue at the reception desk which stretched out of the front door. Not a good welcome after a long day travelling. The reception area was dowdy and poorly decorated. During the check in process we were required to give a EUR300 deposit against damage which we found extraordinary. Apart from the restaurant which opens at 7pm and the bar which opens at 5pm there is no other communal area like a lounge where you can sit and relax at other times. The ski locker area was cold and tatty. Water was leaking through the roof, down the walls and onto the tiled floor causing a slip hazard. The ski locker area was unheated with no boot warmers provided and the ski lockers themselves were very basic. The bedrooms were adequate but rather on the small side with basic furnishing and poor decoration. Some of the furniture was damaged and the fittings tatty. The rooms were very clean but the shower cubicle was small. We only paid a last minute price of £511 per person through Inghams but we would have been really annoyed if we had paid much more. It's a budget hotel but with a little attention paid to the detail it could be so much improved.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE very scary and aggressive owner physically scared me and only rep stopped him becoming physicalFrom the start they took £300 off my card incase we done something to the room so I said no I didn't agree to that so they returned the money an took my passport as a guarantee we wouldn't damage the Rome, like as if that's what we would obviously just intentionally be there too do and also it nothing in the minutely tiny room was worth £300. When we were to check out there was no staff at reception so my rep had to call the owner who lives in the hotel and from the very second he came down stairs he was shouting at me how dare I make him get up and why was my passport there anyway so I explained that his staff took it and so he got even more aggressive aggressive to me as obviously he was angry with his staff but taking it out on me and when I spoke back he squared up to me and then refused to give me my passport. Then my rep turned up so he give me it but when my rep started to take my bags out to the bus the second she was out of the reception he snatched the passport back off me and said "maybe I should just keep it, I can sell it!" So I said give me my F****** passport back right now and with his reaction I actually thought he was going to attack me and talk about have by the bell as the rep walked back in just as he was about to come into my face and then as he was so close to me I grabbed m y passport and pulled it right back out of his hand and then he actually DEMANDED I said thank you and if you excuse my French but I did not say thank you I said some other rather colourful, let's say "French words" and again he then squared up and If the rep had not been beside me he would have beat me up there and then at his very own reception of his hotel. His name was Christopher. As far as I am aware it was his hotel and if not his he was at least the general manager. Please please do not waste you money staying In his hotel. Me and my cousin paid £2000 for 1 week skiing stayin in the alpine pat of hotel Odalys and it was more than a disappointment it was pathetic. Even the food was horrible we did not eat in the hotel after the first evening it was simply gross. And also if we needed to move around the room one of us had fo sit on our bed fo let the other move about. DO NOT STAY HERE EVEN IF DESPERATE FOR A ROOM The owner actually broke the law by taking my passport back off me and then refusing to give it back as it is my own personal official papers for my identity which is my and only my personal property which he claimed he should keep and sell on to some non British person so he clearly has no respect for the UK or even respect and care for his own customers. Never in my life staying all over the world have I ever come across a hotelier like him in my life, rude vile aggressive and simply the true definition of the word BULLY. YOU ARE SIMPLY A DISHRACE, A BULLY AND MORE SIMPLY EMBARRESMENT TO YOURSELF AND YOUR HOTEL, AND YOU COULD NOT HAVE LET EITHER YOURSELF OR YOUR HOTEL AND EVEN CRYSTAL HOLIDAY COMPANY DOWN IN ANY MORE OR WORSE WAY CHRISTOPHER YOU ARE A DISGRACE AND EMBARRASSMENT TO YOURSELF AND TO YOUR HOTEL AND TO CRYSTAL... I feel sorry for people like you you obviously have had a very nice ,life to turn you into such a horrible man poor you *************** DO NOT STAY HERE Also Crystal, you should think very hard about continuing to work with this man in the future, you need to be in business with someone you can trust and not a live wire like that PSYCHO CHRISTOPHER and the Hotel Odlays (chatel Alpina) group. Chalet hotel Alpina, TignesJust returned from a lovely week in this chalet. The food was tasty and plenty of variety and the staff were very friendly. Rooms were warm and spacious and the showers were hot. The swimming pool and sauna were clean and warm. For a budget hotel this exceeded expectations and was excellent value. The bar and dining area have been recently refurbished. Yes the reception area and corridor when you first entered the hotel were cold and grim. The chalet is close to the Tichot lift. Would happily stay there again.

Great location, spacious and well designed rooms; Bad food, bad serviceOdalys Chalet Alpina is located very close to the slopes and the shuttle stop is right next to the hotel. The location and the relatively large room size are the only things they have going for them. The dinner included with the half-board was pretty awful on most nights and we ended up eating outside. The check-in and check-out was pretty painful because everyone checks in / out on Saturday. And if you choose to check out on another day no one is available so you have to wait and call them. The room was often not cleaned when we got back from the slopes
