  Beware of noise

  The Appart Hotel Simi in Liege is directly in front of the train tracks of railroad station Guillemins. Our main window opened directly in front of the tracks with the loud speakers of the station blaring constantly. The noise level of the trains was high. Behind the rooms is the working yard of the city. Work trucks would arrive daily, including weekends at 6:45 a.m. again, creating a very noisy apartment. The bedroom window opened above this work area so no relief was possible. In order to get a breeze through the apartment both windows needed to be open. No peace and quiet is possible here. The apartment itself is clean and basic, and has an excellent internet connection. Some free parking is available for cars on the street in front of these two buildings. A small grocery store is located at the railroad station. Car rentals are not available at this railroad station, even though they list it as a pick up location. Their offices are actually in town.

  Second Home

  I've been living at Simi for nearly four months due to work. Other colleagues were in this building as well and we were able to compare the room. The ground floor has bathtubs, so does Level 2. Level 1 and Level 3 have showers. Everything is very clean and looks like a page of the IKEA catalogue. It is a perfect size for one person (maybe even two?) and has everything you need - except an oven! There is a laundry saloon 3 minutes by foot and supermarkets all around. If you feel like going away, the train station is right in front of the door - only 7 Euros to Maastricht. Yes, you can hear trains and announcements through the walls but you get used to it. I felt very much at home living at Simi.

  Belgium Grand Prix base

  Hi Belated review of one Simi apartment CR1 2 for our trip to Belgium for the August 2015 Spa Grand Prix. Excellent base on the 1st floor and I bagged the double room facing the new and incredible styled railway station and my two sons the twin bedded room facing the side street. On street parking always available outside when we got back from the 4 days at Spa. Apartment well maintained and equipped. Owner met us and waived the normal cash damage deposit, and we did not abuse that. We walked to local restaurants and later into the main city although caught a taxi back from there. Station was not noisy with my window closed and the side road was quiet. Had a really good stay. Over the side road one shop front has ladys' displaying from time to time in underwear but non blatant and the area was safe, train commuter focused and non intrusive. Felt totally comfortable in the environment. Excellent base and would not hesitate to visit again
