Avoid this place like the plague

After booking two rooms for a week each we needed to change our dates, and after communicating multiple times with the owner, a Mrs. Dekker of Holland, via phone and email we felt assured of a nice time in the Alps, part of a trip we planned for a year. This was overlooking a misgiving I had when Mrs. Dekker, who co-owns the hotel with her husband, compelled us to pay not by credit card but by bank transfer, which took us spending an hour at our bank and cost us $60 (!!). Things started going rapidly downhill. As we were relaxing in Munich, a few days before our arrival in the Alps, Mrs. Dekker called my mother at 9 p.m. and asked why we hadn't showed up. She was extremely rude to my mother, wouldn't let her get a word in edgewise. I then spoke with Mrs. Dekker and it was the same. The upshot was that she had already given one of our rooms away for half our stay. When we got to Landhaus Cornelia, the Dekkers were not here. They run the hotel from Holland, leaving 100% of the day-to-day business to a young man named Antwan, who little by little implied that Mr. and Mrs. Dekker planned to keep the entirety of our money but had graciously found a place in town where we could spend even more money to stay in a smaller room. (I should say that we liked Antwan a lot. He's cool. But he repeatedly told us he could do nothing to fix the situation.) Moreover, Mrs. Dekker has written my mother-in-law a string of really nasty, sarcastic emails that have caused a great deal of stress. This is going on for weeks, by the way. Mrs. Dekker speaks and writes in very poor English and German, inexcusable in an Austrian resort town, and continually refuses to take any responsibility for her actions. Throughout all this she has maintained a attitude of hostility toward us, despite us spending well over 1000 euros. In the end, we had to move rooms twice in one week, leaving our two-room flat first for a smaller room in Cornelia before getting kicked out for our final night, and the Dekkers kept the full amount of our money. Basically, they stole from us. To sum up, the place may seem nice, and Antwan is friendly, but the people who actually own the place only care that your money makes it to Holland. My wife's family has been coming to Berwang since the 1930s and this kind of thing is unprecedented. Our experience with this place has been extraordinarily bizarre and negative.

Nice appartment, perfect location, great hospitality

We've been here for four days. The appartement was comfortable and very clean. In less than 2 minutes walking you're at the Sunjet skilift. We rented ski/shoes at Sport Alm right next to the lift. They have a free depot service for clients. Host Bert of Cornelia was very friendly and gave us useful information. We recommend this Landhaus!
