  HORRIBLE CYE 4 Y 5 La PINEDA

  Después de recoger las llaves en Salou, más de una hora y media para recoger las llaves, llegamos al apartamento el cual no tiene nada que ver con las fotos que tenéis en la web, el apartamento muy viejo, estaba sucio, sin limpiar, las sabanas sucias llenas de pelos y olian fatal,(tuvimos que ir a comprar unas sábanas) las luces se saltaban con solo poner el microondas,en el baño no había luz, el sofá estaba sucio lleno de arena y las lamas del sofa todas rotas, las toallas del baño sucias sin lavar, y el colchón estaba reventado imposible dormir alli, la vajilla estaba sucia y no había enchufes... Nos fuimos de alli HORRIBLE

  Very cheap but not so cheerful

  We come to Spain frequently to visit family and so the price and location of these apartments is excellent, however there's a reason for the low price. We are well travelled and have stayed in a range of different accommodations and are not the fussy type and having used the rentalmar cye 5 earlier this year for a short visit we kind of knew what to expect, this apartment initially looked better than the last but sadly was worse. The good side of things is that the price is good, the location is excellent, just across the road from the beach and park, there are plenty of places to eat near by and shops/supermarkets. Salou and Cambrils are not far away not to mention Portaventura. Sadly the bad things outway the good, when I said there are plenty of places to eat, well you're going to need them, perish the thought that you you might want a hot drink and a piece of toast in the morning because you'll be running back and forth resetting the trip switch constantly and your kettle is actually a saucepan (a little tip here unplug the boiler if you want to use the cooker or washing machine). There is an extreme lack of kitchen equipment (you cant cook anyway so maybe that's why) and everything is extremely outdated. The shower is difficult to use in that the shower head doesn't really fit the holder and the curtain and track are to small and so you end up with a swimming pool on the bathroom floor, the towels are tiny and dont absorb very well. The sheets dont fit the double bed and the head board was just sitting against the wall unattached to the bed, why bother with a headboard anyway, one of the bedside lamps didnt work, and we couldn't open 3 out of the 4 drawers in the cupboard in the little bedroom as they had been painted shut. Cosmetically the apartment was very poor but that's not what really bothered me, the thing was is that it was really dirty. The oven was dirty and greasy (god knows why when you can hardly keep it on without tripping the fuses) the sink and tap were grimey, the bathroom floor was absoloutly filthy and had loads of long dark hair over it, the toilet was particularly bad, I left loads of bleach down it over 3 nights with very little effect, the shower fittings and curtain were also dirty. I could go on but won't. The sad thing is there's obviously no money going back into the upkeep of the apartments, which could be really lovely and the people responsible for cleaning are clearly not doing much and obviously no one is checking which leads me to think that no one actually cares. One person who should get praise is the janitor, the exterior of the apartment block is extremely well maintained and he is constantly tidying around, whoever's cleaning should take a leaf out of his book!

  Reception nowhere near apartment

  This is my first ever review but I felt it would help prospective travelers. If you take an Easyjet holiday and transfer you are taken to Cye V, as you would expect. Unfortunately when you arrive there is no reception there or nearby. We phoned the number on the booking confirmation and was told we needed to "travel into Salou" to reception for register, collect keys, pay tax and leave a refundable deposit. You need to get a cab at a cost of about 15 euros each way as reception is about 5-7 kilometres away from the accommodation, On return home I complained to Easyjet but they say they give you the address of hotel and key collection point, What they fail to point out is the long distance and high cost of getting to and from reception . I have suggested they point out this distance on the booking confirmation but I doubt this will happen so have written this review to prevent other travelers unexpectedly experiencing this, forewarned is forearmed. I would not have booked if I had known this. Our apartment itself was spacious with a comfortable lounge and large balcony overlooking the sea, in a well maintained block. I would describe La Pineda as a suburb of Salou which is more for Spanish holidaymakers as lots of restaurants only have menus in Spanish so after trying this once then only used restaurants where there was also translation into English. Towels provided are only hand towels which I thought was an error but was told that is the norm. Not a great problem but have never had that before when going to Spain on a package holiday, but this is not classed as a package holiday.
