Rated as Hotel and not ApartmentWe stayed in the room 103 which had a lovely bedroom looking out over the corner towards the park. This room was what made our stay as it was well lighted in the sun everyday and had plenty of windows to cool it down. The second room was needing much more attention. This room was combination living and kitchen with dinette table by a window. It was drab and dark with a small table at one end and way across a large expanse was a brown couch ...between was what seemed like a canyon of space with nothing. A few more chairs in this area would make all the difference as the option to the couch in the cave were two hard small dinette chairs. The kitchen had plenty of basics with stove, sink, coffee pot, water kettle and microwave. There was also a fridge which was free of ice normally found in most hotel fringes that need a defrost. There were minimal dishes and other ware but pots and pans in good condition. There was no ice. Breakfast was provided and consisted of two meat or cheese filled crepes per person with yogurt and choice of one cup of coffee or tea. Same every day. Bathroom was large, with a great shower and very clean. However, the typical gel packs of shampoo/conditioner and gel soap seemed to minimalist. Warning, the water pressure does fluctuate but there is plenty of room to move out of the way! Staff was very friendly and responded with any request. They did not speak English. Very helpful and welcoming! We found the WiFi was not very good but placing the router on it's side (it was located right outside our door) gave the ability, once you log in at the door, to be able to use the service within the room at one bar level. They need to get rid of this router and get one with a little more power. I want to emphasize that the entrance is really scary as the hotel occupies the half the 4th floor but you have plenty of stairs to get there. The building in the picture has many tennants so the entrance is shared. My experience in Russia is this is common and the common areas are usually not well maintained. This is the case here so you need to first see your room before you judge. There is excellent security as the entrance to the building is locked at the street and the entrance to the hotel is also locked at all times. The entrance is hard to find there is no sign but in little print on the door are instructions to page the desk...it is located on the south side on Leningradsky Prospect. I spent a lot of time on this review in attempt to be fair. One to judge this place as an rental apartment or a hotel. As a hotel is ranks 3 stars at most...as a rental apartment in Vyborg it rates 4 stars. Since most readers are looking for short term hotel style I rated this accordingly. When I booked my first choice, at the recommendation of my wife who had stayed before, was the Bat Hotel. We used Booking.com and elected to stay here since we had a late cancellation option and we were not sure if we would arrive as planned. As it turned out, our flight from Jacksonville had 3 different legs cancelled, with three different reroutings, and took 3 days to get to St. Petersburg! If we had not reserved here we would have paid for a hotel we did not use. We toured the Bat Hotel, listed on Tripadvisor, and we were very impressed as this was first class hotel for the same price...but it is a hotel with no kitchens or other long term ammenities. This is a 10 min walk from the train station so it is a great location for access, it fronts the main park which runs north/south through Vyborg and your in walking distance of everything here that there is to see. Great location and staff...needs some upgrading.

Great location, friendly staff, nice place! This apart hotel is located in an old buildind and the stairway is shared by private people living in the building. Elevator was out of action, so walking to 4th floor was the only option - not a problem for us. We were greeted already in the hallway by the very friendly staff. Nobody spoke English, we spoke a bit of Russian, and the magic of Google Translate made our discussions even easier. Our room was tidy, spacious and had a kitchen, refridgerator and that kind of stuff. For a weekend trip with self-catering this would be excellent. Also made it possible for us to easily make food for our kid.

Nice small Hotel at great location.Entrance trough apartment building stairway which was clean and quiet. 4th floor with no elevator. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean with large bathroom and shower. Small fridge and cooking utensils. Bedroom had a bay window with beautiful view over main street and park. The location is great. Its a short walk to every place we visited. Grocery store and atm machines in the same block. Will definetly stay here again next time i visit Vyborg.
