not bad at all..not bad at all for the provincial Russia. The rooms revery simple, spacious in comparison to what else is available and very clean, but not luxurious. The hotel is really a 3 star but I gave 4 just for the effort. There is a kitchenette sufficient enough to make coffee/tea and rewarm take out: NO microwave and not for homecooking. The meals can be ordered from the downstairs restaurant and are cheap if you are a foreigner and quality. I recommend ordering traditional russian dishes such s borsch ( minus the salo, pork fat, chicken tabaka. sunny side up eggs and semga ( russian lox) sandwich. stay away from anything raw and "fancy" items such what might be considered an american food. The hotel is not located centrally, its on a side street and there there is not much around it. The aqua park with pool and sauna is very dissent. Many locals go there. There is also Azone the entertainment center around the corner with a very mediocre restaurant Loft by an american standard. Remember, you are in provincial Russia so keep things in a prospective. As they don't really cater to foreigners, a non rusian speaking persons may find themselves at a loss and confused. But even with no language barrier, I was caught by surprise a few times. Having confirmed the existence of a room , I learned the hard way that there is no food available after 6 pm period. The room service and the restaurant close at 6 pm daily. If you preorder your breakfast to be ready at certain time , it will be served theater you at late or not > I was late 15 min and my food got cold. Also alway must have cash, as they have strange rules when it comes to credit cards. Having paid for my room with the credit card upon check in, I was shocked and unprepared to learn that I can't pay with my credit card for remaining balance at 10 am check out because the bar is closed till noon. As I understood, the credit card card machine is only available through the bar. Go figure! I suggested that they may need to let people know about that early check out issue with credit card beforehand. The reception ladies were very nice and tried to be helpfull though. Which I cant say about some employee men who seemed very full of themselves and not very useful not to mention lack of any foreign language skills or basic curtesy. Bottom line, if I ever go back to ryazan, I would still pick this hotel and next time be more prepared.
