Good hotelAnjum hotel is located close to the Haram extension. When I went Makkah was very busy. Had to wait till 4pm to get quad room. Rooms are clean as is bathroom. Dinner for room service was good. Breakfast was good. This hotel is value for money. Would I come again...... probably yes.

Pretty goodThis is my first time in Anjum Hotel. At first, we didn't really know what to think, but after observing it, it looks like an old hotel, but it's still good. I love the front side of the hotel with the sofas. Anjum Hotel is located right in front of the Al-Haram Mosque but the closest entry gate can be a bit of a walk. This is was my travel agent's fault, because I have an elderly mother who can't walk that far and he didn't fulfill my wishes. After the first day, I just paid for a taxi 10-15 Ryals ($3-$5) one way, it's just easier. The staff is very welcoming from the first day, especially the receptionist. However, calling room service for food after 10 PM did not go well for the guy who picked up my payment. I'm not sure if it's an Arab thing or not, but most of the Arab men don't smile...lol. The housekeeping person, Mohamed Hasan Murad, on the 26th floor, was very welcoming and did a great job to cater to our needs. He was friendly and cleaned our room with a smile. The morning buffet breakfast is excellent. It's clean and they have more than enough food with so many selections to fill you up to start the day in Mecca. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but I recommend this hotel for those who don't mind walking to the Al-Haram, such as with a group. Also, the hotel can provide a room with a view of the Kaba, but those rooms go by fast.

Decent hotel, needs some improvementWe stayed for almost 10 days. The hotel is a bit of a walk away from the Masjid, but very close to the extension (once it's complete). Still a long walk to the Kaabah though. There aren't many retail or food options nearby, everything is some walk away. The hotel itself is okay, does not seem very family friendly however. The rooms were decent, cleanliness was good. The daily buffet meals are a hit and miss, in my opinion. Sometimes excellent, sometimes not so. Guests seem be made up of predominantly from South-East Asia, so I guess the food is catered mostly for their tastes. The staff were courteous and friendly. However, I feel they need to improve their enforcement of their no-smoking policy. We had called guest services a few times to complain about other guests smoking along the corridor area, which we were always told they would be looked at, but the problem never went away. Each new group arrives the problem remains. The hotel has to do better than this.
