Decent Hotel, very bad wifiOverall its a decent hotel, big double room, complete with a lazy chair. Too bad despite promised wifi services, it was not available at all during our two day stay. The bulb in the bathroom stopped working in the middle of the night so we has to take our morning bath and do our daily "deposit" in the dark. TV reception was very bad too, especially when raining heavily

Budget hotelI stayed at this hotel by a mistake. There is another hotel nearby called Areena, but I paid for the wrong one. As a budget hotel, the price of this hotel is reasonably cheap. Room is spacious, toilet is clean and this hotel comes with elevator too. The drawbacks include stained towels and bedsheets. I could even see ants crawling on the bedsheets. Forget about their flat screen tv, non channels were clear. I didnt use their WiFi so I can comment any. The sound proof of the room was very bad, throughout my stay I could hear of other guests flushing toilet water, walking and even when they closed their doors. The location is acceptable because it is easy accessible to variety of local Chinese food and convenience stores. However, if you expect to walk down to the jonker street, shopping malls like Mahkota Parade and Pahlawan mall, this is not the right hotel you should consider.

Large hotel quite far from Jonker Street with poor soundproofingThis hotel is a good 35-minute walk from Jonker Street and is a large hotel run by a Malay family with a very large car park behind the hotel and a lift going up to all the floors. There is a supermarket the opposite side of the road and there are some eating options nearby. I stayed in a large twin room for RM165+RM10 foreigner tax in Room 202. The bed was comfortable enough except for the pillows, there was a bedside table with a phone on top, a wall-mounted TV with poor reception on many channels and a large mirror. In addition, the room came with a desk on which there was a kettle, coffee sachets, 2 bottles of water and 2 mugs. The walls were painted purple behind the bed and were elsewhere in the room. The floor was tiled and quite dirty in places while there were cobwebs to be found on the wall. However, the aircon worked well as did the free WiFi. There was no proper wardrobe just some clothes hangers hanging near the window which opens onto a minute balcony which stores the air conditioning unit and hence has no room for you to stand. The bathroom is also large and has a proper showering area, but only flimsy towels are provided. There is shower gel inside the shower unit, but there is no soap or any other toiletries, but there is toilet roll. Soundproofing is fairly poor though as you can hear kids shouting in other rooms that are way down the hallway. The owners are pleasant though and there is good car parking on site. Indeed, if you go down to the very end of the one-way road going past the car park at Christmas time you will come across a very colourful Christmas festival at the Portuguese Gate which, in itself, made my stay worthwhile. I was on the whole statisfied with my stay at this hotel although both cleanliness and soundproofing do need to be improved.
