  Very Good Stay

  Overall it was a very good Stay. The owner make the place special. The house is painted in many colours and no floor looks like the other. The rooms were clean and the terrace on top is also a good place to hang out. We also got served an excelent meal for free on the day of departure. I definitifly recommend this place.

  Awesome little spot!

  My friend and I loved our stay at Ancient Mural during our first venture to welligama so much that we had to stay there again. This place has everything you need and much more. For 1000rs you get your own room and personal bathroom with hot water. The rooms are equipped with furniture, fans, and mosquito nets(though there werent really many mosquitoes at all). The rooms and bathrooms are kept very clean and are always stocked with soap and toiletries. The house itself is massive, colorful and has an amazing view of the night sky from the rooftop #stargazing. The host, who we affectionately call D, is insanely friendly and wonderfully helpful. He really makes you feel at home and knows how to facilitate a great holiday for you. Bicycles are available to rent and the house is placed equidistant from welligama beach and Midigama making it a prime location to stay if you plan on surfing. Yummy and affordable breakfast with juice or coffee. Well definitely be back :D

  Great guest house and friendly&helpful family

  I spent four nights in Ancient Mural Villa and I enjoyed my stay really a lot. I had a nice and comfy room on the cosy terrace. Food here is healthy, fresh and really good tasty, but too expensive, that's why my 4/5.

  Weligama hospitality

  Stayed about a week. Totally worth for the amount i payed for my stay. Located next to Elsewhere surf camp. The hosts are amazing and very helpful. Please do not expect lot of amenities for the price you're paying. If you're into diving and surfing, there is surfing point and dive centre nearby. My friend lost his wallet when he went for dinner outside, the hosts helped him find his wallet. It was wonderful he found his wallet nextday in the neighbourhood with the help of Hosts.

  it seems too good to be true, but it's not!

  I stayed here for a week. paged $4 for my own room and bathroom! No, it's not a 5 star hotel, but it's clean and smells normal (minus moth balls, but glad for less bugs), and the service was excellent! This is a family run hostel, very close to Jungle Beach in Welligama, about a 20 minute walk to the main surf beach. It's nice because it off the main drag, therefore quiet and peaceful, in a sweet neighborhood filled with wild peacocks!! rent a bicycle for 200 LKR per day, easy to get around. several restaurants and small shops within walking distance. The hosts are the sweetest and happy to accommodate most needs. The mom cooks up a delicious omelet or pancakes for breakfast for a very cheap price. She also makes a yummy rice and curry dish with prawns!! The internet is not the best, but that is my only complaint. It's better on the rooftop, which is pleasant to hang out on while making a phone call, looking at the sea, while listening to and watching peacocks parade around.
