  Staycation

  Great accommodation and great location to catch up with family. Great room however the bed was not the most comfortable-slightly soft for us. Awesome accessible bathroom just needs a bigger extraction fan. - very steamy

  Noise from other guests. Management won't do anything

  We booked for one night and had an early start the next morning. A large group of guests sat on their balcony drinking and were very loud. Had the guitar out singing really loudly. At 9:30 pm I called reception who basically told me they would not do anything and would keep an eye on it after 10. We have paid alot to stay here and expect a level of consideration for other guests and management who are understanding. We also enquired if we could check in early and were told no. We attended a function and at 6pm got a rude phonecall asking where we were because we asked for an early check in. I told her they had said we couldn't so we would check in after the function. She then told me to be there by 8:30pm or I couldn't check in. Needless to say I won't be staying here again.

  Disappointing :(

  We stayed here (Room 7) for one night to save driving home after a social function just down the road. Firstly the good: The location is FABULOUS - within an easy, safe walking distance from several vibrant bars and restaurants. This is the main redeeming feature of this property. Also like that they gave us a small carton of milk rather than those ridiculous little pottles. Fortunately the actual sheets were clean or we wouldnt have stayed. Now the bad: The place was kind of grubby in general. There were hairs in the sink and on the toilet when we arrived, stains on the coverlet and quilt (wish I hadnt looked!), and a booger on the bathroom door! The bed and pillows were super uncomfortable and the bed being on wheels is ridiculous because it moves every time you sit on it let alone sit up against the headboard and it slides away from the wall!!! There was no dishcloth to wipe down the bench down and the fridge was turned off when we got there so we had to wait for it to cool to put our drinks etc in there! The decor is very dated and lots of damage to light switches, walls etc. Really unimpressed with whole $185 experience :(

  Noisy parties and owners didnt seem to care.

  I had three nights here and it was three nights too many. There was a very noisy group the first night that woke me at 12am with their noise. I phoned the reception number and obviously woke up the person that answered. She assured me she would be down to sort it out so not on site. The noise continued for 2 hours. The following morning the receptionist said they had tried to quieten them but without much success. I asked, why didnt you phone the police. No apology at all. The smokers sat right outside my room and so I couldnt have windows open. The balcony and access to other rooms on the same floor are infront of your unit so no privacy at all. I stay in Napier three nights each month but wont be back here. Pillows were terrible and room was only half serviced each day. No fresh coffee, bed wasnt made one day.

  So good went back!

  Loved the location of the Anchorage in Napier - 2 mins from fabulous restaurants including the Thirsty Whale (our fav) the beach, shopping, the port, great walks and fabulous views of the harbour and boats Beautifully clean and well appointed - spa bath - plenty of room and great views. We had such a great time in October 2020 that we went back and spent Christmas there! Totally recommended. Also Sandra the proprietor was great and it was no problem that she had to send some clothes from my wardrobe on to me as we had inadvertently not checked before we left so thanks for a lovely stay and highly recommend The Anchorage Motor Lodge.
