  Unique Spot!

  We planned a trip to visit Howe Caverns for their Halloween tour with another family & our 4 kids (11-17.) while looking for a hotel, I stumbled upon the Amsterdam Hotel. The kids were super excited about the idea of staying at a castle so we didnt mind the 30 minute drive to Howes Cavern from Amsterdam. The Castle is at the end of a road with a few restaurants & just in front of a neighborhood. Upon arrival, we were sure what to expect but then we walked into the rear entrance & were amazed! The huge room was lined with knights & royal looking decor. The walls were full of historic photos & memorabilia. Upstairs, there was a large room to hang out in that was full of antiques. It was truly amazing! We checked in & went to our room which was another surprise! The room was HUGE! There was a very large living room area, a beautiful brand new bathroom with 2 sinks & a massive bedroom with a King and Queen sized beds. The room was clean & bright & had a fridge & keurig machine. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we all slept very well. The next morning we were all sad to leave but said we would love to come back with a bunch of other families to enjoy this amazing place. Due to COVID, the restaurant was not serving food and, being that it was also Columbus Day & a Monday, there was nothing open within walking distance for breakfast. There are a few cute looking places to eat that got good revues so we hope to one day come back when they are open. All in all, this was a unique place that kids, teens & adults will all enjoy staying at. Hope to go back one day! We all said we would love a full tour of the place bc were intrigued by this impressive place.

  Very impressed!

  I stayed at the Amsterdam Castle on Sept. 30, 2020. I was coming from Rochester, NY, and it was raining horribly with visibility very bad. My daughter made the reservations for me and I was happy to get out of that storm. The hotel is a former armory and is conveniently located right off the highway. Easy off, easy to get back on. When I checked in I saw the row of "knights" in their armor lined up and there was all kinds of memorabilia and pictures on the walls. Very interesting! The room was huge and very clean. TV worked well and it was a large, flat screen TV. Finding 2 bottles of spring water was just what I needed. There was a small fridge in the room so they could get cold. When I woke up the next morning I didn't feel well at all and the staff graciously allowed me to stay. Turns out it was a stomach virus and I can't tell you how much I appreciated the staff letting me stay later. I couldn't have driven any earlier than when I left. Thank you to the staff members I spoke with. I appreciate your hospitality so much. There was no breakfast due to the pandemic but that's okay, I couldn't have eaten it, anyway! ;-( Everything was wonderful! Thank you!

  Awesome!

  We absolutely loved this hotel. It was super spacious, clean, and comfortable. Its also a very unique place to stay. Everything was new and sparkling clean in our room (#103). Unfortunately, they werent able to serve breakfast and the bar wasnt open because of the pandemic, but I look forward to returning when we get this under control. We spent 2 nights because we were visiting Howe Caverns to celebrate Halloween, which is about a half an hour from here. The employees were all helpful and very cordial. Dont miss it!

  Clean, interesting, convenient and great staff

  We stayed here because my mother was having surgery at the local hospital. The staff was great and the check-in process easy. We would definitely stay here again and for the price which was comparable to other chain hotels it was hands down a better experience. Very clean, updated, and the decor so unique.

  Step back to mid evil times

  An old national guard armory converted into a mid evil themed hotel. The rooms are spacious, the staff is friendly. The castle displays the artifacts for its time as an armory. All areas of the hotel are open to explore. The only throwback was the restaurant is closed because of the virus.
