  Beware - check your booking is secure

  We booked with Amberoo Apartments via Wotif 2mths prior to our holiday as we knew it was a peak season. On the day of arrival I called to confirm check-in time and they informed me that the booking was cancelled due to an issue with payment. I have checked all forms of communication including email, home phone message bank, text messages, missed call register and there is no evidence that they attempted to communicate with us. We would have happily addressed any payment issues if we had known. We contacted Wotif who had not been informed that the accommodation was cancelled and still had it as an active booking. This left us with no accommodation at a time that Tamworth was booked out. We are extremely disappointed that there was not a genuine effort to contact us and that what we thought was a secure booking was cancelled without our consent. (we have the itinerary and screen shots of the booking). Needless to say the situation we found ourselves in was very bleak and potential risky with overnight temperatures of -4 degrees.

  Beware!

  We asked to book into the apartments which we were told were booked. We were told about a house off site that was similar. The property was old, very old. Not up to standard at all for the $220 we spent per night. No cancellation policy. I will say the place was reasonably clean and warm but very disappointing. Our experience was also effected by friends who had booked at amberoo and had their booking cancelled (without advice) and then Amberoo tried to extort them for an extra $400. Avoid avoid avoid. For the avoidance of doubt my friends had booked through wotif and had it confirmed in writing - with them!

  Hidden gem with great hospitality

  What a hidden gem. Cindy was so welcoming and even texted in advance to give us check in directions and wish us safe travels. The unit was clean, spacious and comfortable and the added touches were unexpected and so welcome. Juice, milk, bread, butter, marmalade, cereals, fruit and fruit juice were totally unexpected and made us all feel rather special. Such a welcoming place with the lovely Cindy spearheading the great hospitality. Would recommend and return if ever in Tamworth again!!

  Shame on you Amberoo Apartments!

  I want to concur with GMas review in July 2019, as this also happened to me at these apartments in October 2018-the common practice of this hotel is to re-sell your confirmed room at a higher rate and cancel your reservation, stating that there is a problem with your credit card, when there really isnt. I had booked and confirmed 2 rooms, paid as I knew a concert supporting the Aussie farmers was going to be announced. The next day when the concert was announced, I received a text from booking.com that there was an issue with my payment and my reservation was cancelled, by the hotel. I checked with my bank and there indeed was no issue with my card- the payment had been rejected by the hotel. I tried to pay again, but the price has doubled- obviously the hotel had heard about the concert in the mean time and adjusted their prices accordingly, which is fine, but do not cancel existing bookings to do so- price gouging at its finest!!! When I contacted the proprietor, he again tried to blame my credit card, which was functioning perfectly- and he refused to honour my original bookings. My friends and I were paying to fly to Tamworth from Sydney, pay for accommodation in Tamworth and buy tickets to the concert (no small investment), all to support the farmers and Tamworths local economy and this is how we are treated... I would avoid this dishonourable establishment like the plague!!!

  DO NOT BOOK

  I booked this hotel with free cancellation. I cancelled it before the required time. THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD ANYWAY. I have been chasing these funds for 2 months despite them saying they will refund me. DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE-THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!
