  How can this be a four star hotel this was our second room here the other one was worse than this I have more photos like this I would not book this hotel I feel it has just been run down and uncared for I paid just over £400. For a three night stay its disgusting

  Great place to stay

  We have stayed at The Ambassador twice this year and found it really good value. We stayed in room 204 and 104 and both have a good view of the Scarborough front and the sea. The staff has got covid covered with temperatures being taken on arrival. There was sanitizer stations placed throughout. The room was small but adequate and the en suite clean with complimentary toiletries and fresh white towels. There is free on street parking and you are only a stones throw from everything making this the ideal place to spend a few days. Staff were all lovely too.

  Good location but hotel needs an overall.

  Booked a sea view room for one night here . After reading reviews was very wary of what to expect. Given parking permit to park outside, loads of parking which is a plus. Temperature checked on arrival. Given room 208. Has a lift. Room massive. 2 large bay windows, one sea view other side sea view. Small table and 2 chairs in window. Bedding was clean but bed had a slope to it! Room was in desperate need of decorating. Curtains were dirty, had lots of marks on them and carpet needing replacing. It looks as if they had done bathroom up. Towels were clean but toilet made horrendous noise when flushing it. Not sure if this was old pipes. Small tv and tea and coffee. You had to fill a form in for breakfast. This was collected downstairs and consisted of bacon bap, yoghurt, cereal bar and croissant. Tea and coffee via a machine and orange juice. You can sit and eat breakfast in dining room. Was more than enough but other hotels seem to be managing cooked breakfasts . Hand sanitiser machines in hotel but no one to clean buttons on coffee machine after each person touching it. Hotel needs a complete makeover but could be brought back to its glory as lovely old building. Would not stay here again.

  Beware the third floor rooms

  Booked direct with a choice of seaview, inland view, or the penthouse. Looked at the photos and they all look great with large windows and a decent bathroom, so I chose the inland view. Come check in, we were assigned to room 303 and it looked nothing like the photos at all. It looked like a closet with a small window. It had a very bad smell of damp forcing us to open the window on a very chilly weekend. The bathroom doesn't have a separation between shower and toilet and we can hear the next room's bathroom avtivities through the bedroom. I complained and they moved us hassle free to a different room a much much nicer inland view room, which looks like the photos online. I am upset that we had to complain to get the room we paid for and had to spend a night in a damp cold room. I don't think it's fair to charge the same price for those two rooms as both were a double with inland view. It was ok after we'd moved to the better room, but the experience was definitely tainted by that first room we were put in.

  Great location and fabulous views

  After reading some less than favourable reviews, we were a little apprehensive upon our arrival. We needn't have worried. The staff were very welcoming and there were plenty of measures in place to ensure our safety. Our room 108 was spacious ,clean and very comfortable with large bay windows and spectacular views out to sea. Breakfast was ordered and collected next morning and we chose to eat in our room. Though the choice was limited, there was more than enough and it was very tasty. Yes, a number of the facilities were closed and it was not a typical hotel stay, but, given the circumstances, this did not spoil our enjoyment and the hotel should be commended for their efforts to create a relaxed atmosphere in difficult times rather than criticised for minor elements of their decor.
