    Great staff, fantastic location

I arrived late due to flight delay. Staff were most accommodating and friendly. I had a few requests and each one was dealt with perfectly. The location is perfect, out the front door and straight into the market square. Will definitely pick this hotel again if I am in the area.

    The night of horror

Be very aware when you go and ask if they are planning to transform the bar/restaurant into a discotheque that night because if they do you are up for wonderful night of no sleep. Which is not acceptable for a hotel where people come to... sleep!! We were lucky enough to be at the back of the hotel so we didnt hear the music but everyone else were very angry in the morning and had very little sleep. Also the fire alarm started several times, because of smoke in their party, awful !!!!

    Great city hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at Amadore. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The only downside was the shower which was visible from the room through a glass partition. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!

Lovely Hotel in Centre of this Gem of a Town

I booked this hotel as a birthday surprise for my husband as it was near the Goes Steam railway line (about 20 min walk) and a nice central location to explore Goes. At first I could not see a reception area when we arrived at around 9.00 pm so walked into the bar and a friendly chap checked us in which was very quick. We were up two flights of stairs (18 steps each flight) in room 10. There is no lift. The room was very large with a basin and large shower cubicle with two heights of shower, one fixed and the lower one could be hand held. Easy to turn on and control heat. Push the left side to the wall for fixed shower to come on or forward for hand held shower. Water was hot enough very quickly. On the other side of the bed was the smallest room with the toilet. Downside was that after using the toilet you could not wash your hands until you walked round the other side to use the basin. Also, as the basin and shower are 'open' (ie no door) on dark mornings you would need to put a light on which could disturb a partner if they were still sleeping unless you showered together. As it was getting light I could draw the large curtains back and use natural light. Beds were very comfortable though. We had a room on a side road and on a couple of mornings there was a lot of noise at around 7.30 with vehicles or bottles crashing into a waste skip. Breakfast a little disappointing considering the evening menu looked very good but at times the scrambled egg was stiff and rubbery and bacon very crisp. At one time there was no water so needed to ask staff and only one glass was available so again had to chase staff. One type of cheese and two types of ham. There were yoghurts, croissants and pastries. The railway station is about a 15 minute walk and the Stoomtrein about 20 minutes. The steam train is well worth a visit with a small museum with tickets purchased in a former goods shed but now with a café. The day ticket of 16 Euros covers all classes of travel but is cheaper if you just want 3rd class. We travelled to Hoedenkenskerke which is the end of the line for the steam train and as it was a glorious day we climbed the stairs to sit by the river watching all the traffic going to and fro. The attractive village was just behind us. Goes itself was very pretty with two large churches but unfortunately they were only open on Tuesday, and at the weekend but we were only had full days there Monday to Wednesday. It was the same with the Tourist information office. We walked around the water defences and came back to the Stadthaven and had a drink at Hectors on the waterfront. It was absolutely beautiful, so quiet and a nice place for snacks and drink. We also visited the brewery which was 2 minutes away from the hotel which was very interesting (tours are Saturday only so could not do that) and they do very nice meals. From Goes we also visited Vlissingen and Middelburg by train and had a nice boat trip in Middelburg remembering to duck when going under the first few bridges. We had never been to this corner or the Netherlands before and found it so easy to get to by train. We were able to get a direct train from Schiedam (near Rotterdam) which had come from Amsterdam originally and will happily return to visit Middelburg for a bit longer as all the towns we visited had so much character and well worth a longer stay. Noise fairly early in the morning (7.30) on a few occasions - bottles from the bar being discarded, other vehicles. Not having small basin in toilet so having to go round the bed to the shower and basin area. Beds were comfortable, very good shower with large area and two heights of shower, the lower shower could be hand held. Location of hotel is excellent.

    Fantastic market place location

25 years since my last stay but Goes's Grote Markt is as appealing as ever. The Amadore Jersey is in the perfect position for outdoor eating & drinking. My stay in mid-August coincided with the funfair occupying the market square which may not be everyone's cup of tea but made for a vibrant atmosphere which brought the town centre to life. The rooms are clean and spacious, located in a more modern-styled building at the rear. If you like quaint market towns then this hotel is ideal for you
