Fabulous ski area...good hotelWe have just returned from Serfaus and the Hotel Amadeus. I rarely write reviews these days but feel I have to on this occasion. Hotel Amadeus has received some harsh reviews which I do not think are all together justified. It is in a great location, up a hill yes, but you kind of need hills for skiing, it is immaculately clean and boasts among the finest staff I have ever come across. You can have the finest hotel, with the finest of fine dining but if the staff who are the lifeblood of a hotel are not kind, open and attentive then you haven't much at all. All week we were superbly looked after by Dragan and his team in the restaurant who were charming, delightful and missed no opportunity to make our stay special. I have mentioned already that the hotel is immaculate so thank you too to the wonderful ladies who made our rooms sparkle and again helped to make our stay a pleasant one. For me, the fabulous staff made this hotel a pleasure to stay at.....thank you, it is clear how hard you work, be assured that your diligence made ALL the difference to our holiday and I thank you.......I hope to see you again!

great stay.Forget the recent poor reviews of this hotel. It is a good standard hotel with large clean rooms with plenty of storage and a balcony. Please don't moan that the staff don't speak a lot of English, make an effort and learn a little German/Austrian, you don't need a lot to get by. And to have to make an effort to switch a light on, because its not automatic, is beyond me. Admittedly my wife and I took a last minute reduced price ski trip here. The food was varied and of good quality. Breakfast was the same. Prices in the hotel for beer and wine were reasonable too. Both owners were friendly if you made an effort to speak with them. Serfaus is an unknown gem of a resort with a great lift system. Will definitely be returning and wouldn't hesitate staying at the Amadeus again!

Skiing with colleguesA very nice place to be for a skiing period. Good breakfast nice and friendly personnel. Very good dinner and drinks in the evening. Walking distance from the piste. If your lucky you get one of the parking places of the garage. You have simple clean rooms, with a good shower. You can use the swimming pool, sauna and turkish bath. It makes your stay memorable.

Pleasantly surprisedFriends invited my husband and I to go to this hotel as a last minute deal with Crystal on 9th Feb.2019. For the last minute price deal we enjoyed we were a bit sceptical, but what a find! The staff were very friendly and yes as a recent reviewer put, they couldnt speak English but we couldnt speak German either but we managed to learn a few words each. However, Elizabeth, the owner who was on the desk regularly, spoke very good English. The room was very clean and larger than we were expecting, good views and a large balcony. Dressing gowns and towels for the pool were provided. Every day we couldnt wait to see what animals the housekeepers made of our towels on the bed. The food was amazing from breakfast with freshly cooked omelette and eggs to order to an array of cereals, breads, meats and cheeses to a six course dinner. We did not have one meal which was not good. They served cake and soup/savoury each afternoon, which was free but you had to pay for the tea/coffee to go with it. We found the bottles of wine were very over priced but the smaller carafes of house wine was better value. The hotel didnt look full at all so plenty of space. The pool was lovely, with lots of loungers. It was nice and warm after a days skiing and was a good place to relax. The hotel is walkable to the gondolas, but there is a VERY steep short road whichever direction you go. However, the resort offers heated lockers very close to the lifts so no need to walk in ski boots carrying skis etc. so its no real issue. Also, the road is kept salted and cleared as much as it can be inbetween snow dumps. We would certainly fully recommend this hotel and would definitely return. We would again probably look for a package as the accommodation brochure from the tourist office indicated that the rates were significantly more expensive per night/person/day.

Great hotel, dont be put off by the poorer reviewsSerfaus is a great ski location and I believe that this hotel is the only UK package holiday destination. Okay, staff had limited English, but I have limited German, but if you want to enjoy yourself and have very basic phrases like good morning etc and you can smile, you can get by. The owner can speak much better English that the other staff. Austrian hotels differ from UK hotels, 4 star in the UK is different from Austria, but as far as Austrian hotels go, this one is probably the best that I have stayed in. I have been visiting Austria for 10 years. The rooms were spotless, food great - plenty of it, breakfasts great, the wellness centre was lovely- swimming pool, jacuzzi within swimming pool and a sauna and steam room. There is a nice balcony outside of the swimming pool too. The area is quiet and the view from the room was good. We were on the third floor so this may have helped. The hotel is family run so a little more relaxed, this can be seen both positively and negatively- not as efficient as it could be and lacking in detail about check out and settling say a bar bill etc, but this also means that the team are not pushy too. I say team (as in staff), they were lovely and always so positive. Yes language barrier did not make things as easy, but with a smile and an attempt to communicate, all was well, they definitely wanted your stay to go well. During my staff, I found the rooms were too warm (very well insulated). One evening I removed the duvet from its cover and just used the sheet, the next day without asking, a lighter duvet was inserted into the sheet, it was perfect - small touches like this showed that there was a desire for you to enjoy your holiday. Breakfast omelettes were very nice, you ordered them with the chef - omelette mit allen ( omelette with all veg etc) and in a few minutes an omelette was served at your table. Lovely!! I would recommend this hotel.
