  A great hotel with excellent restaurant

  Spent three nights at this family run hotel. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant was surprisingly deceptive with really great local food cooked to perfection. Forty minutes drive south of Munich close to the Austrian alps this is a great location for touring Bavaria.. Highly recommended, by a well seasoned traveller.

  A Wonderful Stay at the Hotel Am Wald

  My wife and I stayed at the Hotel am Wald in Bad Tolz Bavaria during our summer trip. The hotel was beautiful and had an excellent location for walking to explore the beautiful city of Bad Tolz. The staff, our room, the atmosphere and the restaurant were outstanding. We will be staying at the hotel again during our future European trips.

  A nice hotel

  We stayed at the Hotel am Wald for 10 days. Most visitors spent only 1, 2 or a few days. The hotel was typical. The room was good: a good bed, enough storageplace, a bathroom that was OK. Everyday the room was cleaned, new towels... After a few days the bed linnen was renewed. The breakfast was complete in buffet. We had half pension and also the diner was tiptop. Everyday something else but everytime a first course, a main course and a dessert. Gorgeous. An extra was als the swimmingpool in the basement of the hotel. By such high temperatures is was refreshing. (The sauna, I haven't used.) Summary: a good hotel to recommend.

  Great choice

  We booked a double room in the Hotel am Wald in advance for our 3 day trip to Bad Tölz. During check in everything went fine and we got a room on the second floor with balcony. The lock down has obviously been used to renovate the rooms, as they look very nice and modern. The breakfast was good and had a great variety of choices. Dinner was excellent with great taste! The service during our stay was above 3 stars. Always happy to help, very friendly and it was even possible to rent ebikes! The pool was not open due to COVID 19 restrictions. The hotel is located close to a couple of hiking trails and also to the Thomas Mann house. All in all, great accommodation where you feel welcomed.

  Pleasant place to stay

  Although we were only two people we got the family room (room no. 85) which was on the top floor (3rd floor). While it was a very spacious room and nice enough, it was a bit dark (facing north) and with rather high windows and no balcony. We would have preferred a balcony room on the front of the hotel (we didn't ask if we could change rooms; in retrospect we should have done so). However, the room was big and the bathroom was brand new. There is seating outside where you can eat or have a drink. We had our breakfast there which was nice. The food in the restaurant was not great. We know that German cuisine is not exactly renowned for its sophistication but to serve frozen vegetables in the month of July that is hard to understand. Other than that, we had no complaints. The staff was friendly and we had a pleasant two-night stay before starting a week-long hike in Bavaria.
