Rude, disinterested receptionistsGeez, I'm wondering if I am reviewing the same hotel but the name and address match up. While the hotel is in a convenient location, that is about all it has going for it. When we arrived the young receptionist handed me a key and I asked if it was the room key, she said no it was for parking. I asked what we would do with it & she said "You'll know when you get there". Apparently I had interrupted her gum chewing. She drew a sloppy map for the parking garage never stating that it was a private garage. When we finally found it, we thought we were at the wrong place; we finally saw where to insert the key and were granted entry into the garage. It would be helpful to be given the actual address and told it was a private garage underneath what appears to be a privately owned home. Anyways, we dragged our luggage along the cobblestones back to Altstadthotel Augsburg and were handed a room key, told to keep the parking key, and were informed our room was on the 1st floor. We found our room & it was large enough although in dire need of updating. The shower is the typical tiny European type shower, the towels were torn, and there was a blood stain on our comforter. There is not A/C nor is there a fan so at night when the windows are open, it is extremely noisy from people partying at the nearby pub; the noise echo's down the small street where the hotel is located. Breakfast is typical B&B fare of meats, cheeses, breads, etc; it is served in a hot, stuffy, crowded room. We asked a different receptionist, a middle-aged lady, about a laundromat and she simply replied she didn't know of one. There was no offer to help look for one, zip, zilch, zero. I will add that while the receptionists lacked social skills and the ability to be of assistance, the ladies who worked the breakfast area were very friendly. There are a lot of hotels in Augsburg, I sure wouldn't stay at this one.

Not value for moneyWhere should I start. Small rooms Boring atmosphere Dated furniture Inadequate reception service. There;s noone at the reception after 22:00, front door locks and elevator is set out of service!!! Locked doors??? What if there's a fire??? Breakfast too limited. Beds are uncomfortable. Positive Staff are doing what they can At the city center

Excellent location but could take better advantage of the historic buildingThis was a just a one night stay. We found the hotel easily enough. Check-in was speedy. The room we stayed in was at the back of the building and we could smell smoke if we opened the window. It was a spacious enough bedroom, but rather let down by dated furnishings. It rather looked as though the last re-fit was some time in the 1970s..... and this was disappointing, not least as this was a lovely old building and better standard furniture would make better advantage of the historic site.

Average HotelRooms were outdated. the furniture in the hotel was outdated beds were not comfortable. Reception and the elevator are locked down after 10:00pm. Hotels in a semi big city like Augsburg should be staffed 24/7. On a positive note the room we stayed in was on the 3rd floor and quiet a little loud outside on the street. on a positive not the breakfast was great enough to get you going for the day. If I owned this hotel I would renovate the rooms and lobby to bring back the old flare and you could charge more. WIFI was fast enough to download movies and surf the net. Room 309

Strange house! Shared balconies - noisy elevators - stay away if you want to sleep!I spent there one night on a hot summer day. UNfortunately my romm was exposed to the west so it was very hot as they didnt close the curtains during the day- As I wantetd to open the doors to the balconies i mentioned that i shared it with two other (unknown) guests. SPOOKY to sleep like that so that night was even with a closed window strange. Didnt feel good! My neighbour topped al my expectations with smoking a cigarette on "our" balcony in the early morning (5:45)!!! So I woke up from the noise moving chairs and the smell of the cigarettes. Evereything is small so that person was only 3m away from my bed! As the hozel offers an ashtrey on the balcony they seem to invite guests to do so. Of course the hotel is not respinible for other guestes behaviour, bit if they offer situations like that, people will do. Breakfast was ok, noithing special. The hotel is old, thats ok but the elevator is very loud. Stuff is ok, not too friendly. If you want to have a reasonable place in the center you can go there. If you want to sleep whole night, go somewhere else...
