  Hotel stay from hell! Don't stay in this hotel.

  I stayed with my son in this hotel for two nights from the 15-16 August this year. I was extremely dissatisfied with my stay. They claim to be child friendly, yet when my grandchildren attempted to visit me with their parents, they were dealt with in an extremely unpleasant manner. I walk with a cane and was told off for making too much noise. The owner even had the temerity to demand that I descend three flights of stairs to see my grandchildren when I had just hurt my hip in a fall three days earlier. The response to the claim of injury was an analytical report of my movements that day. I was also told that we had to be quiet in the room since the person in the room beneath us was going to bed at 8.30pm! This is in spite of the fact that the hotel is directly literally a few meters away from a church that chimes very quaintly but also very loudly every 15 minutes. I felt terribly uncomfortable the whole weekend and the owner kept tabs of our every move, including coming into the room when I had placed a "do not enter" label on my door. I felt myself and my family could not relax as I constantly felt under surveillance. All in all, this is a wonderful place to stay if you want to re-experience what life was like under the Stasi.

  An enjoyable hotel stay

  We have just spent a lovely week in Stralsund at the Alstadt Peiss. The owner and his wife were friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable, well furnished and clean which is all we want really. The breakfast was adequate without being excessive although the actual serving area was a bit small. There is a bar area but it did not seem to be used much whilst we were there. Stralsund is a lovely town and is convenient for the beautiful island of Rugen. A small word of caution, the church bells ring every 15 minutes throughout the night, whilst I could sleep through them my partner found it less easy. If you want to see the culprits close up 4 euros will give you entry to the tower, the views are worth the climb.

  Nice little hotel in the center

  Very friendly host. Small room but ok for two people. Good central location. Breakfast is OK but no fresh vegetables when we arrived at 09H. Dufficult to find parking nearby. Can certainly be recommanded. Use it to see the beautiful city. Eat at the harbour where you can get fresh fish

  Great Tourist Information

  Booked a Comfort Double or Twin, including breakfast for 3 nights. From the train station, its about a 10 minute flat walk to the hotel. Its situated on a small street leading to the old town and its in a good location to explore the city. Reception is straight off the street, so no steps. Our greeting was very good. The man of the house was very informative and friendly answering all our questions and providing clear info on tourist sites. As it turned out, I am sure we could not have seen Rügen Island by public transport without his invaluable help We were allocated Room 102. He carried my luggage for me up the steepish steps to the 1st floor. The room was light, bright and airy and overlooked the street. Its a good size with 2 easy chairs and a table and bench. There is a large TV. The wifi is free and fast. An extra lovely touch which was most appreciated was a courtesy tray. 2 bottles of water, free, were also provided. The ensuite was a good size. The shower, which is in its own cubicle and not over the bath, worked well. I particularly liked the toilettries provided, not being in those squeezy packs over the hand basin and shower, but little tubes and a cake of soap. There is no drying rack but plenty of places to hang towels so,they can be aired and reused by us. There is heating in both the room and ensuite. The window is openable. Although it opens onto an access street to Neue Markt, it is quiet at night and we had no trouble sleeping. Breakfast is held downstairs on the same level as the entry. The breakfast room is a lovely bright room with strong warm colours and decorations. Cereals, fruit salad, whole fruit, Yogurt bread rolls, bread and cheeses and cold meat, as well as tomato and cucumber. Jams as well. Boiled eggs are on offer.Juice, tea and coffee. All staff we met were very helpful. We would recommend Alstadt Hotel Peiß for those that like small hotels and have no mobility issues.

  Another lovely stay

  As with our previous stay there is a friendly greeting from the proprietor on arrival and a brief chat before he helped take our luggage to the room. The hotel is kept very clean and the staff are all friendly. We did see a couple of people using the bar but as before it was generally empty. However we dont go on holiday to sit in a hotel bar. The breakfast is still fairly limited but it is constantly replenished. Probably the smallest hotel in Stralsund but in our opinion the nicest.
