Snowy Mountain escapeAmazing place to stay. Hubby and I went for a 4 day retreat up here and we loved it. They have a good knowledge of the area which helped us make decisions on when and where to go, and was very easy to see the sign off the main road. Graham was very accommodating and a great barman! They have spacious heated rooms with ensuite, amazing views and the lounge area with fire place was a lovely place to retreat to after a day on the slopes. Very clean and a lovely continental breakfast every day. Highly recommend this place. Would definitely go back!

Amazing, beautiful placeYes it is off the main road and up a dirt road, yes it is high, hence the name, however it is totally worth it! We felt so welcome from the minute we arrived by the lovely Chris who showed us around and explained where everything was. The room was simply lovely, very comfortable, warm and a good size. Looking out the window to see stunning scenery and the local wallabies and wombat :-) The rest of the building is very well appointed. Although there are no televisions in the room (who wants one anyway) if you did need a fix there is a tv room with netflix, plenty of dvd's and a mezzanine level with a pool table. There were also plenty of board games and a table tennis table which could be erected if necessary. The dining room for dinner is charming and if you would like to have dinner the food is put up on the board in the morning and you can book in. 2 courses for $35 including yummy bread was very reasonable. There are two fires, a slow combustion heater and a big open fire. How absolutely relaxing it was sitting in front of the big fire whilst sipping a glass of wine. We had an added bonus on the Friday night when the owners cousin did an impromptu concert singing, playing the guitar and harmonica. It was so much fun and we totally enjoyed it. The bar is great and the prices very reasonable with great wine selection. The owner Graham made us feel so welcome and was great to have some good chats with, not to mention rescuing us from the icy road one night! The chef Simon was so friendly and we had a really good talk to him about his travels and native France. The other kitchen and housecleaning staff were also friendly, welcoming and lovely. I really don't understand how anyone could say the staff were poor. We found everyone to be absolutely brilliant. The breakfasts were great and even though it is not a cooked breakfast was more than adequate. The boiled eggs were a great addition and you could just crack them yourself and have on toast. Croissants, pain au chocolat, yoghurt, fruit, cereals, stewed fruit, nespresso coffee, tea, juices made for a great breakfast which is included. Every time we drove back up the hill off the road we both said I am so glad we are staying here. It is a little paradise away from the madding crowd. We thoroughly recommend Altitude 1260 Resort. P.S. The shower was always hot and the water constant :-) Cheers Sarah and Derek

Could be Amazing - But NotMy partner and I recently stayed here to experience the snow together for the first time. We were initially excited about our stay here but upon arrival realised that the owner was either in a bad mood or just had no customer service or hospitality skills. We were told that it was too early to check In even though we hadnt asked to check in and then when we asked if we could book for dinner in their restaurant were told that we should have replied to their email asking if we wanted dinner that night. That aside we went and had a late lunch somewhere else and returned later to check in. Our room was basic but clean and bright but the shower was terrible. It seemed to give 5 seconds of boiling water and then 5 seconds of cold water which made showering after a day in the snow quite unpleasant. The staff dont make up your room or change linen which isnt a mass be deal but for what you pay here per night, one would expect such. If you go here during winter you need to be extremely careful on the gravel / clay driveway. There was snow all over it one one morning when we were heading into town and the car was sliding everywhere and braking was very difficult. We were in a 4x4 and found it difficult so in a standard car I would not attempt it. Our issue with our stay wasnt so much the location or shower or driveway, it was the attitude of the staff, mainly the owner. The feeling we got was that he didnt want to be there and guests where just annoying. Hope that in seasons to come it can improve as the potential is enormous.

Relaxing snow tripRecently stayed here with a friend for a snow trip to Perisher. Accomodation was modern and cosy- the gas heater in the bedrooms and fireplace in the main area did wonders, we never felt cold (always a bonus after a long day at Perisher). Rooms were spacious and the drying room for snow gear was an unexpected and gladely appreciated bonus. Staff were lovely aswell. Continental breakfast was cereal, toast, fruit, yogurt and pastries. They also had a nespresso coffee machine with some takeaway cups so you could take coffee on the go. There is a dirt road as mentioned in other reviews- my little 2wd coped well.
