Relaxing StayStayed at Alte Muhle one night at the end of December. The hotel is small, but nice and clean. Tiny rooms, but clean. The similarity to an inn was something that attracted us. Varied breakfast. Fresh and beautifully presented.

We enjoyed our stay (April 2012) and will visit again in 2013 !The main reason for posting my review here are to counter the remarks made by a certain KEMEBruges, who is in my eyes is a 1st class cretin. This guy turns honey into vinegar. What a pitiful attitude. He claims to "splurge" - but acts as Mr Frugal and looks for "the comfort of home" when traveling. About the latter I gladly refer to an expert on the matter and I am happy to quote Mr. Basil Fawlty : "probably this person only can be satisfied when one would put straw in his room..." The Alte-Muehle in Bad Bertrich is a fine place to stay : - Good price/quality ratio - Friendly owners & staff - Good & honest food - Nice location, tranquility - Plenty of walking possibilities through beautiful landscapes - The Wellness at walking distance We are returning soon. Downsizing at its bestmany times visiting, because exellent meals and wines (especially some "cannape´s with one bottle of "Leitzgen-Sekt" yeah, das schmeckt! While relaxing your bones and listening to the birds in side the big park-it´s quite beatifull. Come for a weekend or more.

Great hotel and incredibly reasonable costThe rooms although basic are very clean and comfortable. Service is very good at all times and although my spoken German language skills are virtually nil, I was always understood by the staff who were very helpful and obliging. Great hotel and would highly recommend to anyone staying in the lovely town of Bad Bertrich

Lovely, inexpensive hotel in a quiet town near the MoselWe were looking for a quiet place to stay somewhere along the Mosel valley. We chose Bad Bertrich and were not disappointed with either the town or the hotel. After driving along the Mosel the next day, we were very glad that we had not chosen to stay in one of the towns along the river. The traffic was horrible, and we were not even there in high season. The town is in a rural area and there is little traffic or other noise except for the occasional church bells - or fighter jets. We were startled to hear what sounded like F16's until we remembered that Ramstein AFB is not that far away. The town is small, only a few streets wide because it is surrounded on all sides by steep hills. Some of the buildings appear to be built right into the side of the hill, including the Alte Muhle hotel. There is a pleasant pedestrian street with shops and cafes. The Vulkaneifel Therme is at one end of this street; the Alte Muhle at the other end. We had room 201, which is a lovely 2 bedroom unit at the end of building overlooking a small park. The main room had a king bed (with the usual split mattress) and a sofa and coffee table. The second bedroom contained a small single bed and an easy chair. The bathroom was good sized, with a ledge around the sink to put toiletries on. The shower was somewhat small. A nice feature of the rooms on the end of the hotel is that they have small balconies, with a table and chair. The elevator is very small by American standards but typical for German hotels. A nice breakfast is served in the breakfast room. There is a restaurant on site for dinner, but we did not eat there. The menu looked good, though. There is a parking lot for hotel guests, but you cannot get there from Baderstrasse, where the hotel is located, as there is a metal post in the middle of the road blocking the way. You have to access the parking lot from Am Roemerkessel. There are 3 parking spaces in front of the hotel, but if those are taken you have to back up and maneuver around the corner. The streets are narrow so this can be tricky in a large car.
