Excellent School ExpeditionI have just spent a week at Canyons with a group of 26 sixth form students from an International School in Beijing. We were met from the airport and looked after for the week by Canyons staff. We went rafting, canyoning, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking and geo caching. The food was excellent, the rooms were good and the guides were very professional and safety conscious. In the evening the students made candles, played pool, sang karaoke, cooked their own BBQs and even had a farewell disco on the last night. As staff we were very impressed by Canyons as a company and would thoroughly recommend them for other school groups, families, outdoor enthusiasts!

Great weekendA group of us English teachers travelled down to Minakami from Yamanashi for the rafting and canyoning day tour with an over night stay and BBQ dinner. We were meant to have been there by 8:45, but due to heavy down closing down most of the major roads, we only arrived at around 12:30. The staff were really great though, and rescheduled our half-day canyoning to the next day without any hassle. The tours were great, with really fun and professional guides (Thanks Matt, Adam, Ogi and everyone)! The food was really good too. That BBQ really hit the spot after spending the afternoon in mountain river water (so much meat! Even 8 of us couldn't get through it all, and that was the standard course!) The dorms we stayed in were spacious and clean - great for a good night's sleep. The staff also pointed us in the direction of some good places to eat, and a really beautiful outdoor co-ed onsen. Excellent value for money. I would recommend Canyons to anyone :) I'm already planning my next adventure out there!

Canyoning and Whitewater tripOverall this was a really great day at a great price for a full day and two meals (I opted for the post trip BBQ). The staff was friendly and bi-lingual. Unlike a lot of companies that have english websites, Canyons can answer any questions you might have via email. This is a great experience for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle of Japanese city life. One really nice bonus is they take a lot of photos and they don't charge you a fee to view/download them. I can't testify to the hotel as I stayed elsewhere but the meals were good and the cafe/bar was nice, clean, and pretty cheap.

Basic, Good Price, no Wi-fi in RoomWe stayed here two nights. Reservation was easy, staff were helpful. Free transfer from station to lodge is according to their schedule while transfer to station when you depart is flexible. This is a basic accommodation, clean and simple. There are rooms on two levels, a bathroom and toilet on level two so you will have to wait when there are more guests. Theres also a kitchen and living room on level two which makes it easy. No coin operated laundry. Our room has no wi-fi and aircon, a fan is quite enough when you open the windows. Light sleepers should bring their ear plugs. Minakami is a place not easy to get around if you dont have a car so do always check the bus schedule or be prepared to walk a lot. Convenient store about 3 stops away closes at 7pm. The food van comes around at 6pm to stock up on meat and vegetables so take note if you want to cook.

NoisyThe facility was clean and staff was great. Down side is it is super noisy and the walls are paper thin. Neighbors didnt stop talking until we banged on the wall at 2 A.M. I recommend this if you are young or a heavy sleeper.
