Couldn't have asked for more.We spent a wonderful week at the Alpenhotel Fernau. The hotel was clean with staff that were friendly and extremely accommodating. As a family group of 60 they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Young and not so young were looked after; pool, games room, soft play room, cycle hire, spa...The Stubai card was also a fantastic addition. It gives unlimited bus journeys and a trip up and down in the cable cars per day as well as a go on the mountain slide and 3 hours at the big play pool. This is a great hotel in a beautiful town.

A happy holidayMy husband, myself, brother and sister-in-law stayed in two rooms at the Alpenhotel Fernau for two weeks from the 1st to the 15th September 2018. This was to celebrate my sister-in-laws earlier 50th birthday and a first time visit for both my husband and her. My brother and I went to relive some childhood memories of holidays long past with our parents. From first sight we loved the look of the hotel, which was very traditional, covered in flowers and even better slightly out of the village. The friendly receptionist had us checked in and on our way to our rooms very quickly. We had booked standard rooms with a balcony next to each other and although ours was a little small (we are used to the Caribbean large rooms, but they werent as small as balcony cruise cabins) we had wonderful views down the valley to the snow topped glacier. My husband and I both have back problems and found the beds rather firm but after speaking to the lovely Heidi in reception she went out of her way to add a topper to the beds, straight away, which helped immensely. I really enjoyed the breakfast every morning as I love continental meat, cheese and tomatoes which were always fresh and immediately topped up if they ran out and the kaiser rolls were fresh and delicious. My husband found the breakfast a bit samey as he enjoys a hot breakfast as there was only tyrollean bacon, scrambled egg or boiled egg every day. There was also a choice of cereals, fruit, bread and cakes. You were also encouraged to make yourself a packed lunch with a choice of everything at breakfast and cling film, serviettes etc. were all readily available. What a great idea! The evening meals were always delicious with salad to start, an appetiser, choice of soup (all of which were very tasty), a choice of three mains (one of which was usually a very nice vegetarian), dessert, ice cream and a choice of cheeses. We never went hungry! I must mention the lovely staff in the restaurant especially David who quickly became our favourite and had a wonderful sense of humour despite the language difference. We had a great time trying to help improve his English. Hotel Fernau is perfectly located to catch the bus as it stops right outside and goes either to the Stubai glacier and waterfall in one direction or the Elfer, Serles, Schlick 2000 lifts or Innsbruck in the other. We found the Stubai Super pass a brilliant addition to our holiday, which was supplied by the hotel, and got you onto the buses, cable cars and tram (Fulpmes to Innsbruck) for free. We had thought of hiring a car but these were so efficient and easy it wasnt needed at all. The hotel is beautifully looked after and always clean and tidy including the gardens and pool. We enjoyed relaxing round the pool, sitting out on the patio enjoying the cake buffet of an afternoon and a few drinks in the friendly bar of an evening. All in all it was a perfect holiday and we wouldnt hesitate to recommend it or go back. Thank you Mr and Mrs Hofer for a wonderful stay.

A great hotel with friendly staffWe stayed here for our main late summer holiday. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who quickly booked us into our room. Our room was superb with a large balcony overlooking the front of the hotel, it was well furnished and clean. The location of the hotel is on the outskirts of the village which was an ideal location as not noisy. It took just 5 minutes to walk into the village either by the river path or main road. In all a great hotel which we would like to visit again some time in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyable stayLovely hotel in a good location.Staff very friendly and attentive. Immaculate inside and out.Our room overlooked the pool and gardens with a large balcony to admire the mountains.Beds were very comfortable and bathroom well appointed.Food plentiful.Bus stop for each direction is right outside to take full advantage of the stubai supercard.Footpath from the hotel grounds into the village runs alongside the river and takes 10 minutes for access to banks, pharmacy and a well stocked supermarket, the Elferlift is 2 minutes further on.In all we had the most wonderfull holiday and wouldn't hesitate to return. Our thanks to the family and staff.

Cannot wait to go backMy son and I spent a week at the Fernau, having travelled with Inghams. Thew hotel was spotless and extremely well managed. The little touches made all the difference. The guests came from a range of countries. At mealtimes the menu on each guests table was in their native language. Every date there was a newsletter, detailing events in the local area, weather forecast, etc. The meals were superb and beautifully presented. The staff were helpful and attentive. On departure, the patron was on hand to shake hands and thank you for your custom. Once a week, the hotel organise a walk in the mountains with an experienced guide - not to be missed. The weekly barbecue on the terrace was fantastic. Overall, brilliant!!
