A friendly but tired hotel. My partner and I stayed for one week at the beginning of August, benefiting from the 'all-inclusive light' package. The staff were friendly and helpful, although the owner was inexplicably strict about check-in time leaving us with an hour kicking our heels before being able to go to our room. In addition, the bar was closed meaning we had to wander into the village in search of some refreshment after our 7 hour drive. First impressions of the hotel are that it is basically clean and efficiently run but in need of decoration - there was a fair bit if peeling paint in evidence, especially to the exterior of the building. Our room (218) was clean and comfortable but again with a slight feeling of neglect. The room is at the front of the building and has a shared balcony and magnificent views of the lake and mountains. It is also adjacent to the main road but traffic at night is infrequent enough not to be a problem. The restaurant is a pleasant space with a terrace for outdoor dining. We were given places on a shared table with another family from the Czech Republic - a thoughtful touch. The food was plentiful and tasty with a good range. Dinner each evening was themed and the salad buffet was very good. The soups at lunch and dinner were homemade and delicious. The drinks included in the package were good - the soft drinks are major brands, the beer an Austrian brand found in many other places and the wine (I only tried the red) was a perfectly acceptable domestic variety. So what was not so good? The wifi definitely only works in the reception area, which, since many people spent their evening on the restaurant terrace to take advantage of the included drinks which weren't available elsewhere, is a bit of a letdown if you need/want to make use of it. The bar has very restricted opening hours - possibly due to a lack of demand or a lack of available personnel. However there are a number of nice bars/restaurants nearby. Around and about, the area is beautiful with plenty of things to keep one amused. I would definitely recommend upgrading the Achensee pass with which one is issued on arrival. This then gives you unlimited access to a number of nearby attractions all of which are worth experiencing. The 62 euro cost is more than compensated compared to the individual prices. In conclusion, I would recommend this hotel as long as you don't set your expectations too high, i.e. don't expect 4/5 star standards from this 3 star hotel as that is definitely what it is. I would happily stay there again.

Good Hotel at fair rates! The Alpenhotel Edelweiss is a good hotel with fair price and a resonable all-in formular. Dont expect 5 star luxury! It is 3 star and that describes it well. Rooms could be renovated, sure, but are clean and not too small. The lounge is ve"ry nice and it is only 20m to the ski lift up the mountain.

Very good price/qualityI booked a room with great attention! I was worry about what i should find, but the hotel has a new managmen so i could say it worths it! Very very clean rooms, simple but good smelled! We took a renovated one, with new bath! A great view from the balcony! The food very fresh and always warm! Tipical tyrol with mix staff! A great location - in front ot the Lift Rofan, just 200 m. from the Lake! And it is 2 steps from the center of the vilage! And in the evening, you can stay at joyfull bar to late time.... I strongly recomennded!

Just OK. Website photos misleadingFirst the good: The hotel staff is extremely friendly and kind and tries very hard to make sure the guests are well taken care of. They go out of their way to help you out. The location is also good (on the main road, so easy for driving in and out). The Rofan gondola lift and ski piste are right next door (but I wouldn't ski there unless I was a beginner). Christlum ski area is in the next village (5 mins drive) and the bigger and nicer Zillertal, Kaltenbach, Hochfügen areas are within 30-45 mins drive. The so-so: The breakfast is basic but acceptable. I only wish they would replenish the buffet items soon after they are finished. Sometimes we had to wait long for fried eggs or sausage or veggies or bread to be restocked in the buffet trays. They seem to be understaffed as the hardworking chef and the owner are also serving tables in the restaurant and tending the bar at night. The not so good: The photos on their website are mis-representative of the rooms and the hotel interior. The rooms are clean, but basic and not recently renovated. Reminded us of some hotels in the former DDR. The charges for a 1 bed apartment are much higher compared to the cost of 2 double occupancy rooms. So if you are a family with more than 2 people, consider getting 2 rooms instead of the apartment. At 6:30 each morning (even on public holidays!) the church in front rings its bells for a good 2-3 minutes. If you like to sleep in after an extended apres-ski experience, you can be sure that won't be possible.

No reply to booking requestWe wanted to book a stay and tried to contact the hotel three times (contact form on their websites, email, Whatsapp); however, we have never received a reply to our booking request. Normally, even when a hotel is fully booked (which I doubt was the case), it is nice to answer to potential clients.
