Nice hotel with excellent kitchen. This hotel is in a sleepy part of Vars. We stayed here two nights in summer and the hotel was quiet, staff very friendly and the room quite nice and clean. In the shower the drain was clogged, so you ended up showering with your feet in the water. Not that much of a problem. We had dinner twice in the hotel restaurant Le Moulin. And it has to be said: this was by far the best food we had during our holiday in France and Italy. Highly recommended! The hotel also has a Spa which is free to use after 1700 for hotel guests according to the hotel information brochure. Unfortunately it turned out that the sauna and the steam room / Hammam didn't work. We could hang out in the jacuzzi but that was about it. All in all we enjoyed our stay (and the food) in this hotel for a very reasonable price.

Friendly, privately run hotelWe found this hotel through Crystal Ski holidays, what a lovely surprise it was! Reasonably sized, very clean, modern rooms with mountain views, we had a shower only in our en suite, but our children had a bath in theirs. Daily room service to empty bins, make beds and refresh towels (as needed). Heated ski boot racks were appreciated in the ski storage room. The reception is manned by the owner, who (despite limited English) was always willing to help, often without being asked! I was unfortunately injured and spent the last 3 days on crutches, the owner very kindly asked her brother to give me a lift to the doctor 3km away and let me borrow some crutches (magically produced whilst I was eating breakfast with my family). The following day, I wanted to meet my family for lunch up the valley in Vars Les Claux. The bus driver was having a coffee in the hotel at the time unbeknownst to me. Suffice to say I was picked up by the local town bus at the entrance of the hotel and given clear instructions how to reach my chosen restaurant. The food was divine every night and continental breakfast was plentiful and tasty every morning. There is a lovely little spa within the hotel and bathrobe and disposable flip flops provided in the rooms. The jacuzzi could have been hotter for my liking, but otherwise faultless. A roaring log fire in the bar area, plus a pool table to entertain the children (and free wifi too!) made this hotel a winner for us. Thank you to Marie, her family and staff for such an enjoyable, relaxing holiday!

Enjoyable ski holiday in very friendly small hotelSmall, very friendly, hotel with typically french set menu. Good bedroom with a proper bath! Enjoyed the spa after a day skiing. Note that it's possible to obtain the lift pass at the hotel (at a discount). Marie-Pierre was very helpful when I lost my lift pass and resolved it with no loss of ski time. Only 4 Brits there - all others French. Attempts by us to to speak french went down well

Learn to speak French and all will be fineWe arrived just after the hotels restaurant had closed and everywhere, including all other cafes and supermarkets, were closed due to it being Sunday evening. After asking the hotels receptionist for anything available to eat, as my family hadn't eaten since around lunch, she bluntly replied there was no food until breakfast. As for the food, no choice, and the food was appalling. We were told the fondue was 'amazing,' so Wednesday evening, we were shocked to have a saucepan filled with 'sloppy' and flavourless cheese, with stale bread, and nothing else. With that, we didn't eat there again. Instead we went up the hill to an alternate restaurant, which made the holiday with its amazing food. The hotel itself is nice, clean, and the rooms are pleasant, all with WiFi, although the walls are paper thin. The spa only opened strictly to their limited hours. We found Marie very friendly, but only if you were a french speaker.

Lovely family hotel in Vars Saint MarieWhat a lovely New Year skiing holiday in this small and family run hotel which was very clean and modern with a lovely spa area. From the check-in to our departure Marie, the owner / manager was helpful and friendly and very welcoming. The hotel was quite quirky with lovely character and has been in the owners family since 1693! The spa, log fire, free wifi and games in the bar were much appreciated after a day on the slopes. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and had lovely mountain views from the balcony, The 3 course evening meal was delicious and the gala meal on new year's eve was divine... breakfast was a continental buffet with plenty of choice and great coffee. Overall I couldn't fault this lovely hotel and will most definitely be booking again. Merci Marie - une tres bonne vacances :-)
