  Clean, comfortable stay!

  Clean, comfortable lodge we crashed for the night on our way down to Queenstown. Room provided with two comfortable twin sized beds (which we requested), a fridge, cups/bowls/wine glasses/utensils, instant coffee/tea, small desk, fan, and TV. Large bathroom with shampoo/conditioner/bar soap provided and a towel warmer (so amazing!!!). Free parking behind the lodge. Continental breakfast provided, which unfortunately we were unable to partake due to needing to hit the road before 7 AM. Staff member at check out was friendly. Overall, great one night stay! Recommend!

  Great place to stay

  We stayed here for one night before carrying on with our roadtrip. After deciding we didn't want to stay in Nelson itself we drove round towards Tahananui and pulled in here. We got a lovely room just off the main building - lovely bed and good size bathroom. Breakfast was included but we decided to skip it in favour of a lie in! Great restaurants round about and only a short walk down to the beach.

  Aloha Lodge Nelson New Zealand

  Arrived to find doors locked. We had to call them up and were directed to Beachcomber motel next door. Room was ordinary, our large double bed became two single beds. WiFi was flaky if at all. Heating was a radiator and no air conditioning. All in all it was way below our expectations. Very disappointing and would not recommend it.

  Wonderful "tower" room

  We spent two nights in an upstairs "tower" room with spa and sauna. We were welcomed by a very lovely lady (who speaks English and German) who booked us in and then carried some of our heavy luggage up to the room. Be aware that there are a few flights of stairs up to tower room and this might pose a problem for some elderly people. Room was circular in shape and was very clean and comfortable. Room has good views over the adjacent playing fields and on to the ocean. Aloha is close to Tahunanui beach and with a tavern next door and easy access to Smugglers pub at the back. On-site parking appears to be limited to about 14 spaces, but unsure how many units there are in Aloha. Continental breakfast was fine. Also very nice garden area outside for relaxing. Cleanliness, comfort and service were standouts - would not hesitate to stay here again.

  Seems Aloha Lodge is closing down

  Aloha Lodge now has no front-desk and no service. Existing reservations are being handled by the check-in desk of the neighboring Beachcomber motel. It's unclear if the owners want to handle any new reservations. There were only 2 rooms occupied out of 20+ available, so it felt like a ghosting experience. There was maid-service, but she left insulting "clues" about how she felt, such as leaving a bottle of soap by some dirty dishes. But units have no kitchen, so washing dishes in bathroom sink is not practical.
