Not typical Marriott experienceIve been a Marriott member for many years, stay at a Marriott owned hotel once a month on average, in various locations. And while the fun and funkiness of the Aloft lobby (yes there is a bar and game tables) and pool area is unique, I was sorely disappointed in the basic care and amenities. First the hallways were not clean. Im assuming this is due to rare vacuuming and the pets. Secondly the only blanket in the room is one on the bed so thin that you can see through it. Even turning the heat on, (yes it gets cold in FL), it did not make for a comfortable sleep. (If you request another one its the same kind so ask for two.) Third, if you like to enjoy a glass of wine in your room but need access to an opener, they dont keep one at the front desk, or with the concierge, or even housekeeping. The only available wine opener is the single one behind the bar. So you will have to take your battle to the bar to be opened by the bartender (if they can find the opener....which they couldnt... and there is only one....) Finally, while someone came into my room and made the bed and took the towels (used and unused), they did not clean/wipe down anything, vacuum, restock the coffee, nor did they replace any of the linens. Which is really inconvenient when you return from a 12 hr work day, start to undress for a shower, only to find all the towels and washcloths are gone (as was your spare see through blanket.) One would think that they could just contact housekeeping to bring them towels, however in the evening and night hours, Aloft only has 2 people on staff: the front desk and shuttle driver. So if driver is out, your happy but has to get redressed and go to the front desk to pick up towels. (Thank god the single persons that worked the desk are so nice as they are having to handle so many customers and needs all alone!) Oh and just a travel tip noteno reheating of food is available in this hotel. And bath products is soap and shampoo only (no conditioner, lotion, etc) I came away feeling as if all the bling and fun in the lobby is to distract you from noticing the missing Marriott standard. In fact Ive had better customer care and cleaner rooms at a Motel 8.

Aloft first timeIve seen some of the negative reviews. I really think most of those bad experiences are rarities and not the norm at Aloft. I traveled for work for 25 years. I spent a lot of time in different chains over the years. Once in awhile you run into a bad night. Usually you can get it addressed pretty quickly. There are exceptions but, you can find that in any business. I just spent 4 nights in Aloft. 2 nights in Jacksonville Airport and 2 nights in the other Jacksonville location. I must say I was very pleased with everything about our stay. We have been members of the Marriott rewards program for years and love their hotels. What attracted us to this brand was how pet friendly they are. Pets stay for free and they treat them as part of the family. Traveling with a pet can be difficult and expensive. Some Marriott properties charge as $75.00 to $200 per night. Its always been my least favorite thing about Marriott properties before Aloft. I would suggest that the Marriott properties that are not in the premium category get more in line with the pricing in the industry. I see $25.00 a night as a reasonable price for a pet without damage to the room. Keep up the good work Aloft. Well be back Pete Cape Cod

Modern but ComfortableVery Nice hotel with a modern lobby. Rooms are small but comfortable. Always appreciate the professional and polite staff of Marriott locations. This one is a short drive to the airport. Would stay again

Good but not great..Covid still has shut down what makes this hotel special I believe. I was told to try the ALoft a try by a co-worker for the atmosphere. But the Covid had shut down the bar and basically the lobby. The hotel is about 10 years old and is starting to show. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable, still a nice layout. Fitness room is a little worn with no towels. Great location though! Staff is over the top nice. Will give it another chance when things are back to normal November 4th.

Convenient to UF Health HospitalWe stayed there when my husband needed surgery at the hospital there. We drove three hours for the surgery and needed to stay over two nights. Upon entering our room, everything appeared clean, one wet wipe on the floor proved otherwise. The small amount of tile in the entryway and bath area was filthy. I always bring Lysol cloths to wipe things down since Covid and had to use 5 wipes to clean that small area. It was filthy. There were false eyelashes on the wallpaper by the mirror, there were whiskers all over the shower wall. But the worst of it was Saturday night when my husband was in the hospital. There were adjoining doors in our room to the room next door. The people who checked in were extremely rude and inconsiderate. They were partying at 12:30am being very loud, hitting the wall, and slamming the doors. I thought it would die down, but it didnt. I called the front desk at 1:30am and she said shed go up and talk with them. The loud noise didnt stop until around 2:00am. Now we had been up since 5:00am Friday preparing to get to the hospital at 6:00am for my husbands surgery. It was a very long day and I was looking forward to a good nights sleep. This was a terrible experience for us and we will not stay here again. But please, if youre reading this, as grown adults, can we be respectful of each other in a hotel setting and keep mindful of the nighttime quiet hours?
