  Compact room in a wonderful location

  Plus: The location in downtown Asheville is wonderful - within easy walking distance of so many shops, galleries, and restaurants but on a street that itself isn't too busy or noisy. The room was a bit small; it was designed to be compact and had a tiny closet, but the shower was nice and large. Good lighting and a lot of plugs made the room visitor-friendly. One lovely touch was a small pack of sanitizing wipes that I will enjoy having in my purse. We had little interaction with staff, and every guest I saw wore a mask. Cons: The room seemed very clean, but there were remnants of party decorations still stuck high up on the wall. We were in a room with a door to an adjoining room. When the people in the next room got up early this morning, we could hear every word of their conversation. Maybe rooms that don't have the possibility of adjoining would be quieter. There was no coffee for the coffee maker.

  Fantastic hotel in Asheville

  I had never stayed in a hotel for four days before, and staying here was a treat. The location is wonderful as you are within walking distance of everything in Asheville proper. They even have a convenient list of the nearby breweries (Asheville has a great brewery scene if you didn't know!). The staff were friendly and helpful with every question and request we had. There is an attached garage which makes parking very convenient. On the second floor, where the lobby is; there is a welcoming lounge, coffee shop, bar, and deck that runs the length of the building overlooking the street below. It is a lovely place to enjoy a drink. The rooms were comfortable and modern, and offered every amenity you would want. We stayed here for four days and having a comfortable, welcoming home to come back to each night made our stay in Asheville that much better. I would recommend Aloft to anyone visiting town.

  Loved it

  We travel to Asheville frequently since our daughter is in college there and usually stay on Tunnel Road but we thought we would splurge a bit and stay downtown since the dates coincided with our anniversary. We were really pleased with the hotel. It was very clean and attractive. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom/shower was awesome. The desk staff was really top notch. Garage parking was not expensive and since we were downtown, we just stayed on foot once there. And the location may be the best in the city. Minor note that doesnt affect 5 star rating: HVAC in our room (421) was loud and would come out cold for a while before turning to heat, but obviously worked since the room temp was comfortable. Overall the hotel met if not exceeded expectations. Price was very fair at least on a weekday during the pandemic. I hope to stay there again.

  Great location, friendly staff.

  First off, the communication during booking and before check-in was FANTASTIC! I was ready to give it a 5-star review before even checking in. Pros: Location is perfect. Super walkable and scenic. Parking garage is easy and only $10 a day. Mountain view side is great for sunsets. Super clean facility. Funky and fun-looking lobby. Pool area on rooftop is amazing. Many different room types. Cons: A sink in the hotel hallway is just weird. Heat/AC unit was loud. It had a rattle but I travel with ear plugs because I am not interested in having maintenance in our room or relocating after settling in. Not having a microwave was disappointing since some restaurants nearby are closed for dine-in due to Covid. There was a frig but we couldnt warm up takeout or leftovers. I didnt realize the hotel was dog-friendly until a very loud (but not lingering) barking dog startled me. The TV didnt have the new feature that we just had in a Fairfield Inn where you scan the screen with your phone to make your phone easily serve as TV remote. The TV remote was instead in a plastic bag which just seems odd to have a Fairfield Inn outshine A-Loft with this technology. In summary, a nice hotel but it didnt seem like a Category 5 Marriott overall. I would stay here again if the price was right though.

  Poolside Patio Room

  I was lucky enough to snag one of the Poolside Patio Rooms in time for two unseasonably warm days Asheville in Feb 2021. The outdoor living space felt larger than the actual room and was a great work station by day, and relaxing spot to enjoy wine at night. I can imagine when the pool is open these are hard to come-by. Room is typical Aloft size and style that I'm used to. Clean and comfortable. The bath towels smell over-bleached, but this could be Covid protocol. My skin was left smelling like bleach after using the towels. There is a small fridge provided as well as a hydration station in the hallway - so bring your refillable water bottles! The lobby has been refreshed recently and has a spot for coffee and breakfast in the mornings. Special thanks to Matt, the bartender at WXWZ. I was the only guest at the bar and he kept me company. Aloft is in a terrific location with breweries like Wicked Weed a short walk away and oodles of place to eat, drink, and shop. I will definitely consider the Aloft, and the poolside room for a future stay in Asheville.
