Great location, friendly but some room for improvementThe hotel is excellently located right in the centre of Maria Alm. We were here for a skiing holiday and staying with some other families who are friends. I didn't ski and instead looked after our 14 month old daughter while my husband skied with our friends. The rooms, food and service were all good ski-resort B&B/hotel standard. Nothing special but comfortable and clean rooms, hearty and tasty food and friendly service. At the start of the week our evening waiters seemed rather surly but we heard rumours that there had been some sort of staff problem and certainly one member of staff was missing after the first couple of nights and the others seemed much more friendly. Perhaps the rumour was true or perhaps we won over the staff with our charm and our cute daughter?! Although the rooms are relatively small, there are seating areas on all floors so there is no problem finding somewhere to sit and chat, or relax after a day on the slopes. There is also a play room between the ground and first floors which I found invaluable for amusing my daughter. This room was not kept brilliantly clean, unlike the bedrooms, but it was OK and just having the space was very handy. The swimming pool is in a separate building which was a slight nuisance - having to dress up in snow gear to go swimming feels a little odd - but again it was great to have it there as our daughter loves splashing about in the water and we went there most afternoons, when it was completely quiet. This is another area where things could be a little better - there isn't really a proper changing room, certainly not one where I could take my daughter and sit her on the floor while I changed, which was manageable when no-one else was there (although the floor to ceiling windows made it still a little awkward!) but could have been really awkward if other people had been around. In summary, the hotel is in a superb location, the staff and owners were (apart from those first 1 or 2 nights) very friendly and pleasant, the food is mostly pretty good, and the rooms are comfortable if a little small. A little bit of attention to detail in the play room and the swimming pool area would make it even better. Oh, and boosting the wi-fi signal - it was very hard to connect to the free wi-fi and impossible in some parts of the building.

Nice, but room for improvementThe hotel it self is Nice and clean. All the rooms have their own toilet and shower, plus a balcony - ours had a view to the mountains. Staff is friendly, but does not speak english and hardly any german, since they all came from hungary. The breakfast was fine, didn't try the lunch but it was always soup and the dinner was... Poor. It was bland and deepfried and there was hardly any salad. The only thing that I would really complain about is the food, so we ate out a few nights.

Very nice holiday / velice pkné místo pro dovolenouWe spent one week in Hotel Almerwirt, hotel is placed in the centre of Maria Alm, 5 minutes to cable cabin, 5 minutes to bus stop and Billa shop, amazing surrounding for walks...Our room was very nice and clean, older wooden furniture, really comfortable beds. Great view from balcony. Room was perfectly clean and cleaned every day. Bathroom - shower corner, toilet, white new and soft towels. Breakfast - buffet - coffea, tea, juice from maschine, 3 kinds of ham/salami, cheese, butter, muesli, white and fruit yogurt, honey, nuttela, dark bread, white bagels, if you want eggs or cappucino, it was made immedately by absolutly lovely staff. Dinner - buffer - two types of food, salats, dessert, soup, everything very tasty. We had tried everything and all food was very very good, tasty. Also food ala carte ordered by other guests or people from outside looked tasty. Beer Kaiser good too. No complaints about food!! Swimming pool - open from morning till late night. The best advantage was for us Hoch Koenig Card - free buses, cable cabins, free entrance to Museum in Mittersill and Muelbach, free ride on Summerrodeln in Biberg, cheaper entrance to Krimml waterfalls, possibility to make photos in photopoints... As we have seen, many czech families with kids and older german or austrian couples. I really don´t understand bad recommendation here, I didn´t hear any complain during our one week stay. The Chef was always in reception or sitting outside or checking restaurant, always asking if everything is ok, the same staff in restaurant. All staff was nice, smiling, making our holiday even better.

Such bad waitress serviceBeautiful hot summers evening tonight arrived excitedly for dinner in what appears to be a beautiful old hotel. I have long wanted to go there. The waitress was rude, spoke no English, shoved us the menus and told us dinner had to be ordered by 20.00. At 19.45 we asked to order but she tutted at us rudely looked at her watch and we walked out. So disappointed that a beautiful place like this can be run so badly. Will not return.

Evening mealWhat could be better than sitting outside on the terrace enjoying good food and wine. This place deserves a visit in the heart of Maria Alm. Back to its best. Wiener schnitzel and schweinmedallions excellent
