Really nice hotelAlma is a very nice hotel with clean comfortable rooms and good beds.! The location is perfect - close to Oxford Street but on a quiet and nice street. The airport pickup worked very well also. You can sit on the nice area outside the hotel as well.

very niceThe hotel is lovely and very thought through in their decorations. Nice inviting entrance and lounge area. As our room was not ready we got a free drink with was a nice service. The staff are nice though you cant tell who staff is as they are not destinguished from the guest and hang around in the loung area (not an issue though, makes it more family like). Lovely terrasse area to chill out on. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast is served on one big family style table, which is lovely and just reflects the family enviroment of the hotel. The kitchen staff get an extra thumbs up as they went out of their way to get my husband some Kenkey and fish, which was delicious.

Alma House ExperienceThe Alma House staff were polite, soft-spoken, and laid-back. The rooms were booked through Expedia more than 2 months in advance. After some confusion over room assignments and booking, my family and I were lead to our rooms. My room appeared to be quiet, well-kept and the air conditioning was cold. After settling in, I went to turn on the faucet in the bathroom sink. No water. I went to turn on the shower. No water. After a 16 + hour overseas flight I was tired and wanted to take a shower. The front desk attendant told me the water would be fixed in 5 minutes. Little did I know that "5 minutes" was his way of saying he wasn't sure when the problem would be solved. I don't like being lied to. The people in Ghana move at a slower pace than I was used to. Patience is necessary when doing anything here. The place only had a handful of rooms and none were vacant. The front desk offered two buckets of lukewarm water. Bucket baths weren't new to me but not what I had planned when booking this trip. I came close to packing my bags and finding another hotel. My family stayed down the hall and their shower was working so I had a shower to use. If I had traveled by myself, I would have cancelled my reservation. The plumbers eventually came to fix the problem the next day. That was the least favorite part of my 14 night stay. The beds were firm but the mattress was in need of replacement. In addition, small bugs in the mattress kept me company on a few nights. Good thing is, they did not bite and I slept without issue. Those were my main complaints. The staff did well to accommodate my plant-based lifestyle. A plate of fresh fruit was brought to my door every morning at around the same time. Wi-Fi was sketchy. 2G on a good day. The signal got weaker the further away you were from the lobby. Some days it didn't work at all. I didn't mind much because I understood that Accra is still a developing city in many ways. Besides, detaching from the internet for a few days didn't feel bad at all. If this hotel expects to draw more business travelers though, they'll need to address this issue. The television worked and room service was consistent. The staff was helpful in suggesting local spots to eat and shop. There was a 20 minute power outage on our last night before the hotel generator kicked in. The hotel was located in a safe, quickly developing area with plenty of dining and entertainment options. This obviously wasn't a five star hotel. The price was reasonable considering its location. You usually get what you pay for. What Alma House lacked in amenities they made up for with positive energy and overall kindness. This would be an option when I return to Accra.

Akwaaba, Welcome Adangbe HomeMy first in Ghana, Steammmy The Alma House B n B had offered me airport shuttle, but somehow their communications - internet and telephone was not properly working. After I got to the B n B they rectified all concerns and issues. The B n B was safe and clean, with good hot running water, free breakfast as stated and air condition. They also had 2 computers if you needed. The staff were very nice young men and assisted us with internet connection. They also assisted if I needed taxi and suggested a very good restaurant walking distance, around the corner and it had a very good buffet with a variety of vegetables and meats. I work with young people daily and these were some very nice young men. I would score them 4 out of 5 only because they were not aware their internet and telephone was not properly working. I like maps. I wish there was a map of surrounding area where to walk or taxi. What I was close to.
