  Awful Experience

  We had a terrible time at this hotel and we didn't even stay. After travelling from Dublin to south France we arrived at the hotel and met by the hostess in a flap. She had assumed that the bus load of people that had arrived were all staying in the hotel when in fact we numbered 7. "No problem" we were told. There was in fact a large problem. We had guaranteed reservations and a check in at three O'clock. However we were told our rooms wouldn't be ready till 7. There was a rugby team there and they had requested extra rooms. We were told we could shower etc in a hotel down the road. We decided to check out the hotel ourselves before agreeing and were glad we did. It was not a hotel, and certainly not a four star hotel. It was a hotel/bar/restaurant and barely looked open. We were adament that we were not staying there even for an hour. About this time the story changed. Instead of being ready at 7 we were now told that there was no guarantee that we would have our rooms at all. The hostess was quite blase about the whole thing and basically said she could find us three hotels but that we would have to take at least one room in the earlier hotel/bar/restaurant. Eventually after much discussion and a call to Best Western's head office we were accommodated in a hotel outside of the town. It was new, in the middle of an industrial estate and did not have the amenities that our original hotel had like pool etc. All in all a time consuming and upsetting experience. To be fair to Best Western they treated our complaint seriously and through their centralised customer care we received some compensation. But I would avoid this hotel if at all possible lest you end up bedless.

  Perfectly acceptable...clean, quiet, comfortable

  Stayed while traveling through the south of France. Convenient to the restaurants of nearby Castres (La Table du Sommelier is excellent!) Room was ready when I arrived. Calm competent hostess, nice pool (with an interesting below water level window to the lobby...I imagine kids would like it) Room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. Typical Best Western experience...the hotels are all different, but in my experience affordable and well-managed.

  Very Bad

  The ads for this place are from pictures that must have been taken 20 years ago. The bedding is worn, the location a disaster, the staff friendly and incompetent. There are so many better places to visit and stay, so doesnt stop off here. We checked out a day early and went to another Best Western that was great. They didnt even blink at this; I suspect not many make it past the first night. I think the Best Western chain should require new photos and descriptions. Most of what is presented is a complete stretch. Some of it is just untrue.

  prefect for a short stay

  Would need a car or taxi to get into Castres..we had a hire car but taxi was only 12 euro..Staff nice helpfull clean room most comfortale..didn't have breakfast so can't comment only I thought it was expensive should have been included .
