  A charming bed and breakfast with gracious hosts Nan and Gerald

  We rented one of the cottages, the Railroad Cottage. It is very charming with many amenities to make the stay comfortable. I loved sipping my morning coffee while rocking in one of the rocking chairs on the front porch each morning. We had a fire one night in the fireplace outside the cottage. The hosts supply the wood and a firestarter. I would highly recommend staying here if you need a place to stay in the DeLand area.

  Beautiful, and quiet place

  Visiting Blue Springs we decided to stay 2 nights at the Alling House. We stayed in the Victorian cottage and our friends stayed in the Railroad cottage. The 3 teenagers friends, and us, the parents, loved the place, with fire pits, swing tires and the amazing grounds maintained by the hosts, Nan and Gerald. The cottages are very clean, nicely decorated, full kitchen with supply of orange juice, milk and snacks. The kids even made popcorn one evening. Washer and dryer is available too. The main house is beautiful you feel like in a museum, the dining table where we were served breakfast for the 2 mornings in a row, beautifully decorated. The breakfast was bountiful served with a variety of fruits: strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, melon, blueberries. The muffins fresh from the oven, sausages, bacon, coffee, tea, orange juice. The first morning we had scrambled eggs and French toast and the 2nd day Nan made eggs Benedict and hash browns. Thank you Nan and Gerald for the amazing breakfast and for making our weekend relaxing.

  Worried About Covid?

  If you have concerns about Covid-19 but need to stop living like a hermit, Alling House should be your next destination. Ten years ago we stumbled across Alling House and have visited every year since then. Today, more than ever, it is the perfect choice. Did you know you can stay in an individual cottage? Did you know each cottage has its own kitchen, washer and dryer? The cottages are extremely clean, comfortable and even socially distanced. Enjoy rocking on your own front porch overlooking a small park with fire pits, foliage and a fountain. Take a leisurely stroll around the lovely park almost across the street and you will see far more wildlife than pedestrians. Should you venture into the town, it is small and charming with great restaurants likeSantorinis. You can even order fresh seafood at Deland Fish House and cook it in your cottage. I highly recommend Nans OUTSTANDING breakfast if you decide to remain on premises. In short, if you are feeling trapped, bored, depressed or need a little adventurereserve your cottage at Alling House.

  Fantastic Breakfast and Owners.

  This is one of the best Breakfasts we have had at a B&B. Homemade Muffins (a side plate full),Bacon, Link Sausage, Cut Fruit, Baked Soufflé, Eggs Benedick, or eggs how you want them, O J, Coffee, Tea, Milk, just to name a few items. All perfectly cooked served fresh and hot. Also Snacks in the common area, snickers in the fridge along with sodas and chips near by. Good chocolates in the room along with Werther's butterscotch in case you were in dire need. The house was extremely well decorated and spotless. The antiques were never ending and the king bed was comfortable. Anything you could possibly need in case you forgot something. The room was super quiet and private. You won't get better hosts to pamper and take care of you. We'll return again and again.

  Wonderful Hospitality

  This was our 2nd stay and we are so glad we came back. We had great memories of our first visit in one of the cottages and thought we would try one of the rooms in the house this time. We stayed in The Rose room and it was wonderful. This might not be the most modern of places but then it wouldn't have any of the charm this place has. The antiques are beautiful. Every room in the house is spotless but filled with charm. Jan makes a breakfast that will keep you satisfied for many hours. We had fresh fruit and homemade muffins each morning. She followed that with eggs and meats to fill you up. We especially enjoyed that she and Gerald spent time visiting with us. The cottages are great if there are more than 2 staying there.
